Skip Bayless says Dame isn't a star

What is a "star"? Damain is definitely a notch below the ultra-elite: Curry, Leonard, James. But he's in the teir below that I think. His offensive talent is elite, but I think he still has not reached his full potential. He'd look a hell of a lot better if he had better team mates though.

Good point... I wonder what Skip would have to say about the MVP candidate/All Star James Harden if Dame isn't even a "star in this league".

I'm surprised Skip could be bothered to get his knees in front of the Dallas Cowboy's Alter to comment on Dame.

If Dame isn't a star, Why is this Bayless guy talking about him on national TV?

I think Dame is a star. However, I don't think he's a superstar. I think his lack of interest on the defensive end, and his inconsistency throughout many games is something keeping him from that next tier

You just described James Harden.

No need to ever "fix" my posts. I know exactly what I meant to say

James Harden hardly earns his points, as was evident for most of the playoffs (save game 5 when he scored 18 points in the first quarter, but the team was still down 20+)

He is not someone you build a team around, that much is obvious.

Dame can be.

How exactly does he have a lack of interest? Sure seems like he's trying to me. He just isn't very good.

I personally don't think PG as a whole is a position to build a team around in 2016. The NBA is such a wing dominated league right now that someone like Dame is a piece you definitely want to have, unlike guys like Harden or Melo, who really aren't team players. If you look at the league as a whole though, and the best teams in the league, their best players are wing guys. Lebron, Durant, Leonard (the good one). Sure you have Steph, but look what the Warriors are doing with Thompson and Green.

Dame is really, really good, and that's ok.

Dame has the foot speed and lateral quickness to stay in front of guys. If he was "trying", as you say, he'd be better than he is. Defense is effort, and Dame is a guy who just doesn't give all out effort on that end of the floor as much as he maybe could

As a Cowboys fan it has taught me to never give any credence to anything that comes out of that egotistical, toad-like, sorry excuse for an actual sports reporter/personality

HE doesn't cover sports, he covers scripts.

Fair enough. I can see where you're coming from.

Dame says Skip Bayless is worth ignoring as he has no talent. What did he accomplish athletically??

MM! Is that really you? I know you hate this kind of thing, but damn, I'm glad to see you back in here!

I think that's a reasonable position. The Warriors are clearly a team that has an extremely good PG in Curry, who may be the best pure natural shooter to ever play that position. He's the best player on that squad, but they aren't going to win without Draymond Green. I'd be fully happy to have Olshey find the Blazers a Draymond Green this summer.

But we already have Moe Harkless.

;)

I think if you compare where he was a year or two ago with what he does defensively today, you'd have to admit that he has gotten much better at defense. He used to get rubbed off on screens virtually every time, where now he fights through them quite often. He also has gotten much better at staying in front of his man in single coverage and often is able to poke the ball away from bigger guys. To me, he does seem to be slow to react when guys make cuts, which is kind of weird because he's so good at doing those moves to other people.
