My whole family are cat people, and my mother volunteers as a foster mom for kittens through the Humane Society. They have 5 cats of their own that they adopted from the shelter. And I myself have a cat that I adopted as well.

The only dog we've got from the shelter as a puppy was fostered by one of the staff because he was too small to adopt. I think he was born in the shelter.

He's the sweetest and happiest of all of the dogs we've had over the years.

I KNOW the others were abused. One would run and hunker down by a wall when my wife picked up the broom. It was a year before he stopped doing that.

We got buddy 2 weeks after we had my wife's favorite put to sleep. She wasn't ready but I told her that very few people give dogs a better home.

I went like a month ago. Only reason i didnt rescue 2 pitts was cause we were going out of town for 2 weeks and i didnt want them to be traumatized with us leaving so quick. I hope they found good homes by now but if not i think ill have some new dogs next week.

I thought our town had a pitt problem sounds like you do too. My step mom went overboard, she rescued 1 dog and loved seeing how it went from scared and mean to loving and full of life. Now they have 9 dogs.
