He's had some mediocre performances and some great ones. Based on the 10 games played so far, is this currently Lillard's best season?

His stats:
27.1ppg
6.6apg
5.4reb
42.2 FG%
33.8 3pt%
93.2 FT%

While the efficiency isn't as good as last year, it seems to be picking back up. Does his more rounded offensive game, combined with better defense, make this his best season so far?

(We can update this thread all season).

His numbers are about the same, given the sample size. Tonight was a clinic on how to work a pick and roll. For me though, what really sets this season as his best is that his defensive intensity is much better than it ever has been.

Lillard's a better shooter than his numbers suggests. If he limited those 30ft chuckers and the and-1 attempts, his 3pt % should be around .400 like other elite shooters. But I guess elite shooting should include shot selection and he's shown that he's not very good at that still.

This is true. Especially his three point percentage. I consider him pretty reliable at the three but some of the long threes he takes have had an impact. He seems to pick the percentage up after all star break

All I can say is if he keeps this up and isn’t an all star again this season, im flipping tables somewhere.
It really depends on the Blazers record at the time. If we are top 5 in the West and he is averaging his current numbers, it will be a travesty.

I cannot see how he becomes an All Star

Curry, Green, Durant, Griffin, Harden, Leonard, Davis, Cousins, Westbrook, George, Towns, Gasol are locks for the 12 All Stars I believe. And you also have Klay, Butler, Anthony, Paul, Jokic, Gobert. It would be unbelievable if he makes it. West is loaded!

Won't matter if it is or not, still won't be an All-Star.

The last four games for sure. He averaged 31 pts per game and he took command at the last moment twice this young season. Image74choked.gif WESTBROOK!!!

None of those are locks except for Curry, Harden, Durant and Davis....

Cousins, Green, Westbrook, Griffin, Gasol, Leonard aren't? (skill, markets, public vote etc) You must be following some other league then as in this one they are locked. I can say the same for Towns and George as well but ok maybe they are 80%.

And over 2 above last season. He seems to gain 2 per every year, which is frankly insane growth. His WS/48 is .274 which is starting to enter true superstar territory. And the reason I think is because his defense is pretty good this year.

Agreed on all counts. I know PER gets shit on around here, and I understand why, but it still does a decent job of capturing overall offensive production (even if it shortchanges defensive impact) - especially when you also consider it in combination with other advanced stats such as WS/48, BPM, etc.

In spite of his poor 3FG% (which should improve over the course of the season), Dame's TS% of .582 is only .004 off his career high. His low 3FG% is largely offset by the fact that he is getting to the one a LOT more (FTr = .454, previous career high = .366) and making his FTs at a career high FT% of .932 (previous career high = .895).

His ORB%, TRB% and BLK% are all currently career highs, and his AST% and STL% are also close to his previous bests and his TOV% is near his career low.

Add it all up and it's easy to see why his current PER of 26.8 is his best, so far.

For those who don't understand all of those acronyms and abbreviations, all it really means is Lillard's total production is his best to date, because he's getting to the line more, knocking down his FTs, he's rebounding and passing well and not turning the ball over. He's also getting a lot of steals and blocks at the other end, a sign of his increased defensive intensity.

If he can keep this up, and get his 3FG% up near his career average, this will be his best overall season to date.

If the pelicans are not in the top 8 and they get 2 all stars that would be a fucking travesty

Davis and Cousins are both putting up huge numbers, but NOP has yet to beat a team with a winning record. They are 5-5 with their five wins coming against DAL (1-10), SAC (1-8), CHI (2-6), CLE (4-6) and LAL (5-5).

It will be interesting to see what happens if NOP has a losing record when the all star teams are announced. Lillard was left off the all star team last year due to his teams poor record. Will the same happen to both Cousins and Davis this year?

That's his game though......that ain't gonna change. I'll stand by and support those heat check bombs.
