Son, that already happened years ago under the obummer plan. I can not afford to purchase health care with what we have now. I am just glad that I have VA, even as totally fucked up that is.

lets see, I have a partially paid, for injuries sustained in the service, care that is sub contracted to the lowest bidder, that at this time is a county health care with zero ability to do anything but to continue prescriptions..that I pay for..yeah, man, lucky fucking me. you obliviously have A) Never been in uniform. B) Have no idea the the wait time to get into the VA system is over six months, C) The suicide rate of vets is 22 pr day because the system is broken. So tell me just what am I lying about?

What bugs me is that we focus on the outrage and ignore what is actually happening, things that would be front page news otherwise.

Congress passed a bill, yes really! And Trump says he will sign! On a party line vote, people who file for unemployment will now have to undergo drug testing. Some states have drug testing for SNAP; the tests have cost states millions of dollars and uncovered very few users. (And most people receiving SNAP are families with children, mommy or daddy smoked pot so kids go hungry, say millionaire legislators). But unemployment is insurance, not government benefit, we all pay into it and use if/when needed. On a national scale this will cost tens of millions of dollars. Fiscal responsibility be damned, the important thing is to humiliate poor and working people.

Congress is also looking at a bill to outlaw union shops nationally.

Environmental regulations are not just returning to pre-Obama days, they are returning to pre-Nixon days. After all, look how polluted Russia is!

Trump is sending to the United Nations International Conference on Women, not two conservative women - that would be expected, and a lot of conservative women still recognize 98% of heterosexually active women use birth control and that women are in the workforce to stay. He sent two hard line opponents of women's rights who belong to organizations that call for outlawing all birth control, abortion under all circumstances, no sex education, abolish Title IX, repeal Violence Against Women Act and above all, ABSOLUTELY NO RIGHTS FOR GAYS.

Corporate titans like the Kochs backed Trump, as did the religious right. They knew he is stupid, ignorant about how government works, mentally unstable, a terrible manager, a pathological liar, concerned only with his ego and his wealth. But make him president, he'll get rid of environmental regulations and unions and give the rich a big tax cut. Make him president and he will appoint judges, not just to the Supreme Court, but the hundreds of openings Senate refused to fill when Obama was president (some go back to his first term) who promise to outlaw abortion, birth control, and gay rights. You know the expression "useful fool"?

One individual, and I swear I am not making this up, proclaimed that eliminating Meals on Wheels proves Trump was sent by god. Because some meals are being delivered to gay men with AIDS. And god must oppose such a program, and as a Christian he must oppose it, because we must not help those sinners. I thought Christians believed "we are all sinners" but apparently gay folks are different and worse than you ordinary hetero sinners.

On a state level, Kentucky just passed a bill permitting discrimination against gay, lesbian, bi and transgender students. At state supported schools, student organizations had previously been open to any student who supported their aims, but some Christian groups did not want gay Christians. So now any organization can exclude gays if their religion says so.

Texas is passing a law that would permit doctors to withhold information and flat out lie to pregnant patients. Pregnant patients almost universally will ask if everything is OK with the fetus; if its' high risk due to patient's personal or family history, she might ask if the fetus has condition X. Doctors can now withhold the information, or tell a patient no the fetus does not have condition X, if he/she thinks the patient might terminate the pregnancy if she has accurate information. Patients cannot sue doctors for lying to them. Needless to say, the bill includes no financial aid for parents of severely ill or disabled child and no social services for the child, since "life begins at conception and ends at birth".

So let's all focus on Trump making shit up about President Obama. Like any stage magician, focus on the shiny object and miss the trick. Which is to return the country to the 1950s, or maybe the 1850s, but with Twitter.

I have VA benefits but never use them because I always feel some vet in serious condition will get bumped for my needs which aren't really pressing..The VA is grossly understaffed...they need more docs, medics and clinics..always have.
 
Agree, riverman, I briefly worked at VA in Oakland. Hideously understaffed and staff received very low pay - obvious connection there! It was in my clinical lab days, I had just landed in California and as soon as I got a better job I left. I mean, they paid maybe half of what I got in a hospital.

It's almost as if politicians didn't REALLY care about our Vets. Maybe those same politicians who cut funding for security at that Embassy in Benghazi.
