To be honest I'm a bit surprised! We don't even have a thread for one of the fan favorites last season.

Robin Lopez and the New York Knicks are in discussions on a deal that would pay approximately $12 million or $13 million per season.

The Knicks have identified the frontcourt as their area of need this offseason and have already struck out on LaMarcus Aldridge and Greg Monroe. New York is still in the running for DeAndre Jordan.

Lopez spent the past two seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Los Angeles Lakers are also seriously considering Lopez.

If LMA wants him back then we will find a trade for Kaman to pay him to return. If LMA doesn't come back then I would move on from Rolo. I appreciated what he did but it is time for the youth movement.

Rolo is great, on and off the court, but he's just a bit too slow and plodding overall.

We nabbed a replacement player, in Plumlee, that can provide his equal in production, is younger and will do that at a fraction of the cost - and without the back troubles/worries.

I like Robin a lot, and I'll miss him, but I'm not heartbroken or anything. I think we are well covered at center.

I like the direction that Olshey is going in with the more athletic, and aggressive players. I like having defenders, dunkers and drivers, and ramming the ball down the other teams fucking throat. Soon every player on this roster will be an Olshey signing and I'm looking forward to that roster.

I've heard this a lot, but I think Robin had the best +/- on the team. I know he did at some point, and it was by a lot.

If LA wants to return, we will overpay for Rolo just to have a happy family. Otherwise, I think we have some damn fine replacement options at a bargain.

Yeah, I like him a lot. But sometimes he was just too slow to impact a play. And possibly that will get worse as his back condition does - maybe that explains his drop-of in production as last season wore on.

Bottom line we get a younger, healthier guy that should be able to fill the void left by Rolo.

He was a cool guy, but come on, he was a role player. Every year some desparate team goes out and signs a role player to a big contract.

I liked him but he isn't worth that much. He's a mediocre center, above average at defense. Nothing Kaman can't do, but kaman is better offensively.

No. If anyone can set 5 good screens during a single offense possession like RoLo, how come no one else does?

Nope. He's meh and was below average after the hand injury. We're better off now with the other bigs we got.

i do not care about losing Rolo. He declined during the season big time.

@ThomasCDee: Per source, #knicks and Robin Lopez have agreed in principle to a deal.

But who would have thought, going into this offseason with all this money, that we'd have retained NONE of our guys, and that our biggest signing would be Aminu?

Nobody. Good thing we're only two days in and we still have $27M or so in cap space, huh?

Yes, but the big names are gone (according to reports anyway). All that is left is quality reserves.

Sure, all the starter quality players are gone. Except Jordan, and Harris, and Kanter, and Jackson, and West. And anyone for whom we might be able to use cap space to trade.

But really, let's just call it now...

Well, unless youre Batum you didn't get 5 screens from him. You got one, maybe two. And no pick n pop unless it was batum and lopez. Get him out :-)

Agree w you on this. Everyonw, myself included, was lost in the clouds after lamarcus said he wanted to sign w us prior to last season. And now, no starters are back except Dame lol. My first season next year as a season ticket holder...I'm stoked and can cross it off my bucket list, but I'm less excited. And I really don't like the Aminu pick up. Am I the only one?

Rolo was so overrated from March through the playoffs...he mailed it in. He started out great, then after the allstar break had his 3 good games and got lazy...I was not happy with his performance late in the season. We have better post players at a fraction of his salary now. I'm happy he's not coming back.

David West is an old man, and don't see why we'd want to pay a lot of money for Reggie to be our backup PG.

Kanter and Harris are restricted, and the magic will match any offer for Harris. And I said big names not "starter quality"
