So NOW do you understand what I'm talking about??? We are a better team this year.

OK, I'll man up and admit I was wrong.

By making it to the second round of the play-offs, this roster has officially put together a better season than what last year's roster accomplished.

We had draft picks last year, this year we don't have any. So we're not as good as we were last season draft wise.

We aren't 'better" than last years team.
We had less injuries, that's for sure. We lucked out and had the opposing team we played in the first round lose their two best players, so we advanced.
The west wasn't as solid as in years past.
Last years team would beat this team in a series, no doubt.
This years team would have been swept by last years 1st round opponent, Memphis.

This years team played out of their collective minds! This years team was WAY more fun to watch. This years team was easier to root for with the whole underdog status. I loved this years team way more than last.

That said, we aren't "better", but I would say they had a more successful season considering the low expectations.
Proud of THIS year's team, but they aren't "better"

Hope NEXT year's team is better than THIS one!

I'm trying to remember how KS says this:

*thinks... thinks... thinks*

Oh, I remember!

Wrong.

I call BS - this team was better. Last year's team, and namely it's best player, laid down in the playoffs. This team just fought the world champs down to the bitter end.
Would THIS years team beat LAST years team in a seven game series? Honestly asking you this.
I love this seasons team, but they aren't "better"

Right on queue.

I honestly think this year's squad beats last year's. Can you imagine fighting toe to toe with Golden State the way we just did? That team would have been routed, reamed, and regulated. The Warriors are a lot better than Memphis of last season.

I'll give you that. I just strongly believe a healthy 14/15 squad beats this years.

Last year's squad got dominated by Memphis. This years team competed in every game with the 73 win Warriors. Sorry, but Wes wasn't that big of a difference maker.

This years team would win in 6.

You'll catch unwarranted hell for that post, but it couldn't be more spot on. Very well said

I have to agree with the people saying that the NON-INJURED 2014-2015 team, and by extension the 2013-2014 team that got to the second round, is better than this year's team. Even so, the gulf between teams isn't really that large, especially during Dame's superstar rampage after getting snubbed AND this postseason. Honestly, I'd say it's more a testament to how well this year's team has preformed than anything else.

Now, if we're talking about likability both on and off the court, and embodying the blazer spirit, this year's team wins hands down, no question. We've got a real promising future ahead! *knocks on wood*

both teams had dame

lamarsha would mail it in against fiz ed cause he wants to go home to mommy.

Dame this year is better than Dame last year. CJ won an award that says he was better this year than last year. The difference is in effort left on the court. Uninjured Matthews would have been perfect for this year's team.

This team might be better than last year's team after the Matthews injury. And last year's team looked like they weren't really interested in being in the playoffs. I've never seen a more uninspired performance than the way Batum, LA, and Lopez lollly-gagged around the floor vs Memphis. This team brougt more heart to the pre-season.

Talent does not equal better...this team was better

This is easily my favorite Blazer squad since the late 80's/early 90's Rip City era team with Drexler, Porter, Duck, Buck, Kersey and Uncle Cliffy.

Damn, this was a great season as a Blazer fan. The future's so bright, I gotta wear shades!

Had this thread been started now instead of October 29th, it would have been taken way more serious by most rational people.

Doesn't that say something about the prescience of the thread being started at the time it was? If it were as ridiculous as the detractors claimed, wouldn't it seem MORE ridiculous as the season went on, rather than less?

I've been thinking of something, and maybe it's been mentioned before, but tell me what you think.

Do Portlanders want an underdog?
