Hes shooting like 37% from 3s with tons of attempts and avgs 11 and 7, with average to solid defense mind you by next yr his 7M dollar contract is like the equivalent of 4M with the old salary cap ..

Shit he shoots better from 3 than Dame

Bones is gonna love this! ;)

I was a fan of the Aminu signing- and for the $ I think he's worth it. His catch and shoot numbers from 3 - ~37% are consistent with what I expected at the beginning of the year. After falling off a bit in the beginning of Dec he's actually been pretty hot from 3 (catch & shoot) at over 40% (12/8/15-1/8/16) His defense has easily been the best on the team- take a look at nearly any metric and you'll find him at or near the top.

What hasn't been great and what probably puts people off is something I've made bones about all season- Aminu has been an absolute trainwreck on drives. I mean it's something to behold...

EDIT: Twitter embeds are nightmare eh?! Here's the direct link... Twitter conversation RE: Aminu can't finish

When you're DEAD LAST in finishing on drives as an athletic 6'9" SF... I just. I... I can't even. Physically- that should be the guys bread and butter. Long, strong, and stupid athletic usually means- can't shoot, but can damn sure put the ball on the floor and finish at the rack. I need to take a look at the historical numbers.. but I have a reeling suspicion that it won't be pretty now matter how I slice it.

Bottom line- for the role he's asked to play- he's more the sufficient. For the money he's being paid (on an NBA scale) he's a bargain (I'm actually working on a larger "value :: $$" project that I hope to have done soon)

Exactly. Again the guy shoots better from 3 than Dame. Granted I'm sure Dame's attempts are much more, but shit Aminu shoots a lot of them bad boys too. What we're paying this guy with this new cap hes hellllllllllllla cheap. A GREAT bargain. His drives are maddening no doubt, but that's on the coaches they need to tell him to cut that shit out. He's like the anti-batum actually in he believes in his abilities a little too much to the point he does dumb shit. Basically hes too damn aggressive. Imagine if Batum had Aminu's confidence when he played with us lol

And Jared Dudley shoots threes better than Steph Curry.

1. Nothing wrong with being optimistic.
2. I don't think there was a person here who doesn't think Batum is the better player when he's motivated to play. There were times the last couple of seasons that he didn't seem that motivated.
Nico was my favorite Blazer for years...until the last half of last season...when he needed to step up, he took a nap...Aminu put up the best numbers of his career in the playoffs..this is the upgrade..Aminu is also about 4years younger than Nico. I don't think there are half a dozen players with Nic's all around skillset, but he's checked out when needed one time too many and I've given up...No need to bash Aminu for being the new guy who's still learning the system...Nic played 7 years with Lamarcus and 5 with Wes..that's a comfort zone nobody on this roster has achieved yet but I have hope they will.

None of these statements contain qualifiers about motivation or anything else. They're quite clear and they support HCP's statement.
Nice find FAMS! Experts of the game obviously!

So we're 4-9 in the rough spot of our schedule. It usually happens in March but this year, the easy games of November's past have been scheduled for January. So look for us to play even ball in December and then start crushing teams in January. I still think this team is better. They just need a players only meeting to stay strong.

Ohhhhhh snap! It's started. Sly you can ban and edit all these toolboxes as much as you want. But when you start messing with the Forum MVP's posts, IT'S ON! #DennyOnLineOne

Sly really wants to smack down the ban hammer but nobody is willing to pay...he needs a Kmart blue light special to prime the pump

The thing is, last year SlyPokerDog really did have 2 brain cells and now he has only 1.

Last 50 games...

2014-15 Blazers: 23-27 (including playoffs)
2015-16 Blazers: 24-26

Now do you see what I'm talking about?

So you made this thread to prove that the team, 50 games into the season, is better than last years team...by 1 game? Under different circumstances?

Thats a flubber like stretch you have going there.

Is there anyone here who would prefer last year's team over this year's team? We're younger, deeper, and getting better as the season goes on. Last year's team had no depth and fizzled at the end of the year going 22-27.

I almost bumped this thread to say almost exactly this. But I'm glad I left that to you; you deserve this.

I love the bench mob! My favorite team in a long long time..top to bottom..just look at our stat lines from games and everybody does everything..a team with 7 or 8 players in double figure boards or scoring or assists is doing something right

Last years team before Wes got hurt was much better. We won every game after the Afflalo trade and were killing teams with our own lineup of death; putting Afflalo in place of Rolo at the end of games. We would've had a legit chance to win a playoff series against any opponent. It all fell apart with Wes' injury.

I'm very excited about this years team. But I don't need to hate against last years team to feel good about it.

...uuuhhh...guess what HCP...you're going to get really sick of crow sashimi my friend...my 43 game win prediction is looking better and better..just beat the Rockets twice, Grizz and absolutely crushed the Warriors...it's a great day to be a Blazer!

Starters when healthy and motivated were elite last season...problem, they weren't after the break...particulary Batum and Rolo...Lamarcus was cancelled out by ZBo and Lillard was in a shooting slump. Blake couldn't shoot at the end either. The starters early last season were better...but not built for the long haul in the end and the bench was deer in the headlights bad to the point our starters played almost whole games. But I'm with you...I don't need to bash them at all...I was really invested in that team and now feels like an ex wife....I still watch those guys play on other teams this season. Now, I'm starting to feel invested in the identity of this seasons roster...earlier I hadn't connected the same way.

It is interesting though; lets say Lamarcus tells Neil he wants to come back if we keep the same starting 5. We don't trade Batum and keep everyone else except Afflalo on the contracts they received elsewhere. We sign Aminu with the MLE and still trade for Plumlee.

Lopez/Plumlee
LMA / Aminu
Batum / Crabbe
Wes / CJ
Dame

Would you rather have that team going forward? Not really sure what is better theres a good case to be made either way. We are younger with what we have not and more financial flexibility. That flexibility is almost worthless with the rising cap. Infact it might be a negative as having any players who can play under contract seems better.

Its odd our bench was so bad but then this year CJ, Crabbe, Barton are all such big contributors.

We were 10-10 in the 20 games before Wes went down.
