So we can all stop calling Stephen Curry the best shooter ever now right?

Dude was common in three point contest and couldn't make wide open shots in All Star game. He's fine, but he's not the greatest ever or even the greatest now. #overrated #lillardisbetter

Obama said Curry is the best ever. I believe everything Obama says.

#threadsuck

I really like Barry O, but I couldn't believe what he was saying about Curry. Dude's a phenomenal shooter, but best ever? Eesh. Someone forgot Steve Nash, Dale Ellis, Ray Allen, Larry Bird, etc

Mark Price, Pete Marovich, Jerry West, Reggie Miller...there are guys who shot as good or better than Curry although Curry is a great shooter.

Curry is better than Lillard.

Curry is not the greatest shooter ever, and never will be.

These are facts.

How much time do you think the Prez has to watch basketball? It's not like he sits in his mom's basement all day playing video games, watching League Pass, and posting on S2. He probably saw a couple of phenomenal performances by Curry (he's had a few jaw dropping runs in games that I've seen). Who cares?

It's all so subjective. Calling someone 'the best shooter" is just an opinion, like calling someone the best "player" ever. A lot of people think Jordan, some people think Wilt, others think Kareem.

Curry is good, really good, but is he the best ever? He hasn't done nearly enough to warrant that title.

While the best shooter ever talk is a little premature he is one of the best shooters in the game today. I hate classifying any one guy as the best of all time in something (except MJ as the GOAT) since the different eras do have so much influence on what guys are doing. Curry is one hell of a shooter though and could very well end up as one of the best of all time along with the Reggie Millers, Ray Allens and Larry Birds. Not winning the 3 point contest doesn't change my opinion on that of all, it is a contest and not game situation. We've seen Curry burn the nets from deep time and time again in game so unless that stops happening he will get there

Curry a great shooter but I have a hard time calling him the best ever when his career just starting. We can re-evaluate after he retires but I'd put Ray Allen ahead of him and bunch others already mentioned above. He just the hot topic right now and TNT/NBA has to talk up someone that playing in All-star game.

I've seen him shoot a bunch of bricks in games too. Look at what he did in the All Star game. Awful. No wonder Brooks gave him the hook at the end.

So I guess that would make Lillard and LMA bad too, since he hooked them as well. :)

Calling people the "best" of anything while they are still playing doesn't mean that much since they are still in the league and constantly in the lime light. Its when there accolades and accomplishments not only stack up but also hold up years later that you can say things like "one of the greatest or greatest".

Steve Nash is the greatest shooter ever.

Shooter is cool, but talkhard was better

Pure shooter, maybe Reggie Miller. Ridiculous argument anyway.

Curry was the captain and starter who received the most votes of anyone in the backcourt. Curry was the only starter on the West who got yanked at the end. Lillard and Dame weren't in to get yanked. They were reserves.

You are sounding awfully butt hurt over all the love curry is getting. He is legitimately a great shooter and one of the best in the league. He has a career 3 point % of 43%. I don't know how you can say he isn't one of the best shooters in the league. People saying he can be one of the best shooters of all time isn't crazy

Of course, he is one of the best shooters in the league. But he isn't the best. And he DEFINITELY isn't the best ever.

Maybe if Curry had been in at the end the West would have won. But he might have taken shots away from Durant. Can't have that.

The thread title is a straw man anyway. Who cares?

find one basketball analyst that has said that. I haven't seen anyone say he's the best shooter ever.

The thread title is taken directly from what Obama said during his interview with Barkley. It was a strong opinion that some fans have taken issue with.

I recall Mark Jackson adamantly stating that Curry/Thompson are the best shooting backcourt ever, and several analysts agreeing with that statement. I take issue with that as well; I'd take the Stockton/Hornacek backcourt over "The Splash Brothers" any day.

Obama isn't the only guy who said it. Lots of people were saying it during All Star weekend. Or at least debating it. And yes Mark Jackson said Curry/Thompson is the best shooting backcourt ever.
