Not really. Unless the idiots try to have a pg as their best player
So we throw it all in and trade Scoot, Sharpe, and Deni along with all available picks for Giannis (or maybe they want Camara instead of one of these guys). Obviously, we'd have to include some of the vets to get salary right.

What's our path to win a championship? How do we add to that lower tier playoff team?

Tough. It’s hard to find Batman. The good news is they have some damn decent Robin’s.

I think this team is too young to be talking about purgatory. For the record I was fully on team tank but when you have the 2nd youngest team in the league and they are naturally progressing to the point where they are beating the teams they're supposed to and hanging with the teams that are supposed beat them, I consider that an upward trend on the natural progression chart and what you want to see happening. I think people are being too impatient when it comes to the development of these guys. Our players with the potential to be the Batman (Scoot and Sharpe) are ONLY 21 years old, They should be making mistakes and not playing like seasoned vets at this age, that is normal. my biggest concern is our roster construction with Ant and Grant and whatnot potentially hampering some of the young guys progression. Also our Wings with Deni and DEFENSIVE player of the month Camara are looking solid, both of which are still years from their primes also. Camara will shut down Flagg anyway, we're good

Post of the year

A moderator should moderate, not inflame.
I don't consider opposing opinions to be inflammatory. Stren is obviously a fan. Why would anybody be a mod if they weren't allowed to share their opinion?

That seems like a great way to get a bunch of mods who don't give a shit about the forum or the team.

I would be very much opposed to any restrictions like that on moderators.

Thanks for being a mod, Stren (and the rest of you who do it). I appreciate you all.

Do you consider someone who hasn't watched a game in years to be a fan?
I think it's kind of hard to say that somebody who spends a lot of time in a Blazer forum is not in some way fanatical about the team.

I don't think it's my place to choose who qualifies as a fan and who doesn't.

And let's be honest, it's been pretty rough the last few years.

He expresses his “differing opinion” as fact and attacks other posters in an inflammatory way. For a moderator, his posts (not opinions) are inflammatory.

Boom.

A winning culture matters.

But it is fact. It's a fact we won against shitty teams. Was I wrong?

Were not a good team. That's a fact.

My opinion is this team is 5 years from being anything meaningful. Grant sucks, ant is a waste of a spot on the team, Sharpe does nothing for the team.

We have to rid of those 3 and that'll mean 2 more years of being fucking awful.

That's why it's a fact this year set us back years. Cronin makes moves if we don't have the win streak that fooled fans who don't look big picture.

Im sorry, we are portland. We don't get magic handed to us. We HAVE to get it through draft or trade and we fucked that up. Those are facts.

Im sorry that I see things big picture and don't waste my time watching a team that brings nothing and long term isn't working towards making inroads to bettering the team and putting us in a position to be successful.

If we wanted to have a chance of being successful in the next 3 years, grant, ant and Sharpe would be off this team.

People who look at it big picture know for a fact this is an abject failure thst only LUCK gets us out of, and we are Portland. Ill look at long terms trends and not get sheeped by meaningless win streaks and years where there's no TEAM growth.

Sorry that offends you, but it is what it is. You'll be fine. I am.

I haven't seen him "attack" anybody. He should be free to say his opinion as fact if he wants.

It’s an opinion that any team in the NBA is “shitty.” It’s the most competitive league in the world. Portland has beaten many playoff/playin teams including Houston, Orlando (with Banchero) twice, Milwaukee, Indiana, Minnesota twice, a healthy Jimmy Butler-led Miami team (in Miami). Also, Phoenix would be at .500 now were it not for Portland beating them twice. The Blazers should also be commended for doing this with a fair share of injuries throughout the season.

Were not a good team. That's a fact.
That’s an opinion. It depends on your criteria for good. I think a team that has gone 15-7 in the second half of the season is at least “improving” if not good.

The team is 7 games under .500 over the whole season= fact

The team is not good= opinion

My opinion is this team is 5 years from being anything meaningful. Grant sucks, ant is a waste of a spot on the team, Sharpe does nothing for the team.

Those are opinions. You might want to support them though. Sharpe does “nothing” for the team?

We have to rid of those 3 and that'll mean 2 more years of being fucking awful.
This is an opinion too. And a prediction.

That's why it's a fact this year set us back years.
No it’s not. It’s an opinion/prediction.

Cronin makes moves if we don't have the win streak

This is a guess.

I agree with this. And I believe our last three lottery picks were hits. I’d love to hear a reasoned argument as to why we should give up on Sharpe. You want to tank for talent but then you want to give up on the talent before they turn 22? Doesn’t make much sense to me.

and we fucked that up. Those are facts.
Is is a fact that we have made a conscious decision to try to get a spot in postseason play. People have differing opinions about whether that was a good decision. I personally believe that the players have naturally gotten better and that has organically led to winning. To shut down young players who got us here would be damaging to their development. In my opinion, even if we miss the play-in, it is good for players like Scoot and Camara to play games in March and April that matter. That can create a hunger that will unite the team in training camp (see: Houston).

I’m sorry that I see things big picture and don't waste my time watching a team that brings nothing and long term isn't working towards making inroads to bettering the team and putting us in a position to be successful.

We all want to see us win a championship but some people enjoy - or even RELY on - the 2.5 hour jolt of entertainment that comes from rooting for their favorite team to win a basketball game (as I will do tonight). I saw you outside Moda after Dame hit the shot against OKC. You were near tears and said it was the best night of your life. Did we win the title? Not close. Was it meaningful? Yes.

If we wanted to have a chance of being successful in the next 3 years, grant, ant and Sharpe would be off this team.
And that is your opinion, no more, no less.

People who look at it big picture know for a fact this is an abject failure thst only LUCK gets us out of, and we are Portland. Ill look at long terms trends and not get sheeped by meaningless win streaks and years where there's no TEAM growth.
And here you’ve lost me. There has been substantial team growth this season. And that is a measured fact seen in win-loss record and defensive rating as well as other metrics over the past 6-7 weeks. It’s not just that the Blazers are winning. It is how they are winning (defense) and where they are winning (9-8 on the road since a 3-13 start). If you enjoy watching basketball, I recommend watching a game. I’ve rooted for the team since 1989 and this is one of my favorite teams we’ve had. Great defense, great team ball, big, tall, young, upside, trending in the right direction.

Sorry that offends you, but it is what it is. You'll be fine. I am.
What offends me is when you bash the team or its players without a reasoned argument behind it and I’m offended when you bash the fans for enjoying the team, implying we are “fools” and “sheep.” It’s inflammatory language unbecoming of a moderator who should be fostering discussion not shutting it down.

I haven't seen him "attack" anybody. He should be free to say his opinion as fact if he wants.
It’s there. The people that are enjoying the team are being “fooled” and following the team like “sheep.”

Yeah, like this. This is all a difference of opinion. Healthy discussion.

Nobody is being attacked here.

I don’t want him to be punished. I want him to step down.
He shouldn't be pressured to step down, IMO. I want mods here to have the freedom to do what he's doing.

I appreciate that about this place.

No not really. Losing to good teams that are sitting their starters and losing to bad teams that aren’t.
This team should have been tanking since Christmas.
