At the beginning of the season, the game threads had over 40 pages each. Lately, we barely hit the 20s. Where did all the excitement go? Was it Nik and magnifier getting a life? Or is there more to it than that?

Winning is boring. It's much more fun to argue with people when we're losing :devilwink:

Actually, I think a lot of people were posting during the big winning streak, and we've seen some people taper off since then.

We've had some people post over in that new forum.

I missed last night's game, and I'll miss tonight's. So that answers the thread title.

I'll be back tomorrow, so stay cool

Court ordered weekend community service sucks. Careful doing that litter pickup at night.

Serious answer, we have the same number of people for the most part posting in game threads. What is different is the team is winning. Less complaints about players and coach during the game. Less arguments between people over those complaints during the game thread. Less complaints, fewer arguments means fewer posts per person during the game thread. When the Blazers are winning we mods don't have to edit posts in the game thread. When they lose people get pissed and unfortunately we have to edit or delete posts.

This just isn't the board's year. Let's hope the team sucks next season so we can resume killing each other.

The blazers are so fun to watch I try not to get distracted and miss something.

Also, 20 pages of thread is nothing to shake at. I like to read other teams' message boards to get a feel of what they feel... and I think only 1-2 teams have ever had the activity on game threads like we do (Cleveland, surprisingly, is one of them)

Plus with every celebratory drink I slip deeper into my alcoholism. But its still more fun than the depressed alcoholism of seasons past

Or quite possibly posts are getting longer and filled with more graphics? I've seen pages where there are like 2 posts due to the pasted replies...Same graphics with four words underneath them multiplied by 6 repeating video clips...just food for thought. Game threads I tend to say something before a game, at halftime and after the game, not that anyone would notice of course but I'm fairly new to this site. Also I understand the loose standards but my 10 year old granddaughter, (Blazer fan) cannot handle some of the content nor should she have to so I recommend she avoids it. I've had a lot of complaints from Blazer fans that graphic language and sexual conotations some use here make it less than family friendly for younger fans. There's a time and place for bar talk but you could clean up the game thread so that it doesn't exclude many fans from enjoying it. I dunno, maybe you mods prefer it this way.

Mods started getting angry at posters during game threads, so posters have been banned. That tends to cut into how many people post in a game thread.

But those show LMA shooting JUMPSHOTS, dood. He shoots JUMPSHOTS. Get it? Here, I'll post yet another graph of his JUMPSHOTS.

That explains it. All the 10-year-olds who used to post to the game threads have abandoned us. The best thing about this site is the libertine philosophy of owner and moderators. You've "had a lot of complaints." Are you an ombudsman?

nah, just an Oregonian who talks to a couple hundred Oregonians everyday due to the nature of my work and coaches hoops at a small school. I just see some alienation particularly on the Game Thread post...other posts are not such a problem but under the game site the game thread is available to any fan..I'd clean it up if it were my choice but..as you know, it's not
One might venture to say that young fans are the ones who are abandoned by libertine language if that's the descriptor.

The complaints I hear are not folks typing on the internet, they're locals, parents, etc...

Is your small school a religious one? Have these people actually read this board, or are they just regular people talking politics and religion?

I've actually just discovered the ignore button which is great! Never thought I'd use it but now that I have, it's already easier to read some of these threads. Yeah, I'm one of the "(cough cough..new people..cough cough)"

Who said I have a school and religion has nothing to do with my views on the topic...I'm not debating value systems, just offering my 2cents on the thread topic. The folks I mentioned are sports fans and being a coach, we talk Blazers, Beavers, Ducks, Ems, Timbers, etc...religion? uh...wrong thread?

I very much appreciate you posting this. Before our partnership with the Blazers this was a forum for adults to talk Blazers. The Blazers were and are aware of that. Part of the negotiations with the Blazers talked about keeping this forum as is. While nudity isn't allowed (posting pictures or videos, you're free to post nude if you want to) "salty" language is allowed.

I do know that the Blazers are providing a game thread in Casey's blog section for people who prefer a more family friendly chat.

That said, if you do know of a large group of people who would like to participate in a more family friendly game and basketball chat I can see about experimenting with a second game thread that would be rate G. I can't promise that it would be swear word free but I could create a sub forum for it and I'm sure people would agree to not to swear in it. While we do cuss a lot we are a friendly bunch. We can talk more about this in private but a large group would be at least 10 people to make a game thread fun.

for the first time in a long time, the blazers are so consistent so its pretty easy to predict the flow of a game. Hence, less of a need to discuss anything. I mean how much TROB SMASH! can you really post?

I appreciate your comments Sly, thank you. Not trying to be a prude here, I just found some Warriors game thread material to be way darker than cuss words. I've ignored that person now but do think the game thread link attached to the websites homepage should go to a place that is for everyone

You said school, obviously. So to repeat, have these people 1) posted here and then stopped or reduced their posts (what the thread is about), 2) just read game threads and not posted, or 3) have not read this board and you're just talking about what your society friends might say if they did?
