OT Sounds like we could get some snow later this week with some possible freezing rain

McMinnville got hit hard. We, and the surrounding areas, received most of the moisture in ice. It’s a complete shit show. One-half inch of ice is far worse than a bunch of snow.

I'll take snow all day over ice. Ice literally stalls everything. Breaks down all the trees, power lines, etc. It's awful.

That sucks....hope things look up soon

Thanks riverman, just got off the phone with a 24 hour window place... they will be out tomorrow. Just an unreal weather weekend.

Hope you're doing well, too, Riverman. I know you're not "near" all of this, but I do hope you're doing well in general.

Went snowboarding today with the ole lady. Roads below were way worse than the mountain. Ice ice baby indeed. Crazy luck would have it powers out in a big circle around my hood but ours is good.

A car just slid off the 205 bridge.

A car fell from the Glenn L. Jackson Memorial Bridge and into the Columbia River Sunday night, prompting a search effort by the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol Unit.

The vehicle was discovered but divers had not entered the water to search as of 8:25 p.m., Portland Fire & Rescue spokesperson Tremaine Clayton said.

The vehicle was reportedly traveling south on the span of Interstate 205 that connects Oregon and Washington. Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Sgt. Brandon Pedro said the marine unit was dispatched to the bridge’s midspan.

The frigid weather and snowfall that blanketed the Portland area led Oregon Department of Transportation officials to urge motorists to stay home Sunday. Agency officials advised motorists to monitor TripCheck before chancing icy roads.

The National Weather Service forecasts freezing rain across the Portland area overnight.

Shit. I hope driver (and passenger?) got out.

I don't see how, that's a tall bridge and from that height hitting the water would be like hitting cement. And that's not even factoring in the cold water if they somehow did survive the crash.

I can not imagine what they were going through at that time. Literally my biggest fear about that bridge. I mean had visions of it happening as im driving.

I can image the last thing to go through their mind was the floor of the car.

That settles it for me, won't be going in to work tomorrow. I have to cross the I5 bridge. I have gotten the okay to stay home until it is feasible and safe to do so by one of the owners too a few hours ago but was going to see in the morning what the damage was before deciding but not after that.

Thanks Sly.

They aren't sending divers in till the morning

Just lost electricity for the 5th time.

Police still investigating the car that slid off the I-205 bridge. Apparently haven't found the car yet. Here is where it went off.

My window and cars on the street are getting pelted by ice

Weird they’re having problems finding it. It looks like it fell off close to shore.

I have seen conflicting reports that they gave found it and that they have not found it.
