Heads up. A bunch of people from spurstalk.com reading the site.

And yet...I continue to hear. "I trust Neil Olshey"

LOL. What am I missing?

If the Spurs fans think LA is going to be the heir apparent to Duncan, they are sorely mistaken. After watching TD for the past 50 years they're going to be extremely disappointed in Aldridge.

With Pop as the coach, there won't be that much of a slide. At least IMO. Good pickup for them and it extends their window

I presume they think LMA is going to the Spurs.

It's a good fit.

Good for them if they can afford him. They'll be paying him $40M at age 36 if he gets the contract he wants. That's just nuts, sorry.

Mmmwwahahahaha!! Yes, I feed off the LaMarcus hate. Let it flow through you and through this board!!

If a guy wants to leave when his team was a game out of the #2 spot in the brutal WC with just a couple months to go, how is that Olshey's fault? If LA can't deal with Oden, Roy, Lillard on top of the family issues, then maybe he's not the leader we need him to be.

LA prob should have been put on the block the minute he declined to sign the extension last summer. There were signs way before that that suggested he was unhappy here. I know a lot of you don't put a lot of credibility in Jason Quick. But I did two years ago. It made since. He never liked it here. And when he decided to not sign, he should have been put on the block. The other thing is, I cant believe there werent signs in the middle of the year that was pointing this direction.

maybe its just how out of tune I am. But I don't have the same vitriol towards Aldridge as a lot in here. Its not like the dude didn't earn the right to go where he wants. I wish him well, except when it hurts us.

Just to give a giant middle finger to the spurs I'm offering Kawhi max, front loaded, biggest fucking signing bonus possible. Eff them. Gonna make sure lamarcus is surrounded by scrubs
This is actually a bad idea. They would get him for cheaper because he is a RFA and we can't give him the raises (or the years) that they can outright. Kawhi camp would probably turn down offers from other teams. But at the same time we want to make sure they do have to sign him. Because if he plays out the year under his old contract then they would have a lot more room under the cap.

This^

whatever the fuck it is, make it as painful as possible for them to match it

To build on a couple of other things I have read in here. The moment they knew that he wasn't interested in signing was about 7 days before the draft. That would have been plenty of time to work a deal with Cleveland which would have brought back something and maybe Wiggins in return. Now we have...this. But we continue to blindly 'trust Neil Olshey'.

Yeah i said the same thing this morning. The question is it do-able

Thats a bit of a stretch to say for sure.

Team has won one playoff series since Aldridge was drafted in 2006

This isn't like Cleveland losing LeBron.

The Raptors lost Bosh (who imo as a #1 is better than Aldridge) and the Raptors have been pretty successful since

Haven't the raptors not made it past the second round either since then?

I'm not one to put too much stock in rumors, even from well-placed sources. That said, I think Wesley Matthews' body language at his post-season interview was pretty indicative that there was little chance of bringing back the same core as last season. Pretty much Wes's Achilles popping was the sound of that incarnation of the team passing away. A deep playoff run might have put new life into the team and encouraged management and players to keep it going. As it happened, his injury was just one more in a long list of things that have gone bad in Rip City. I'm not happy if LA decides he wants to get somewhere else, but I can understand his motivation.
