Sources: Aldridge has told Blazers he will not return

Can't say it wasn't unexpected. Hope Olshey has something up his sleeve. If the team can't even sign it'd big name FA then what chance does it have.

This is actually a bad idea. They would get him for cheaper because he is a RFA and we can't give him the raises (or the years) that they can outright. Kawhi camp would probably turn down offers from other teams. But at the same time we want to make sure they do have to sign him. Because if he plays out the year under his old contract then they would have a lot more room under the cap.

Ahhh good point. I was focused on it making them have to front load and pump out a massive amount of cash only July 9th as a bonus. But he'd lose the highest max. Balls.

To build on a couple of other things I have read in here. The moment they knew that he wasn't interested in signing was about 7 days before the draft. That would have been plenty of time to work a deal with Cleveland which would have brought back something and maybe Wiggins in return. Now we have...this. But we continue to blindly 'trust Neil Olshey'.

I got SO MUCH flak for suggesting that very thing back then or even the year before when some of the very same issues were coming up for LA. There are a number of factors and it's not all team related. This was always very much a possibility from what I've been told repeatedly but to suggest such was considered heresy. I continue to trust the sources I still have. Not as many as a few years ago but they remain spot on.

I see some positives in turning the page an moving on. The one major one is getting away from the Iso offense altogether, build a balanced team that moves the ball and attacks the rim.

So assuming this is true, how much money would they have to work with if they give up the rights to him, Wes, and Rolo? They could still go after a guy like Butler and DeAndre.

I keep on reading posts. Hmmm, I wonder how we can get into the top 4, I just done see the pieces....lol, Nic could have helped.

I mean what happened there? Yet, we continue to 'trust Neil Olshey'.

I would like that.

The ball did 'stick' when it got to LA in the post. He wasn't a very good passer out of the post and terrible when double-teamed. His inability to put the ball on the floor without it being a 50% chance of being a TO didn't help either. Incredible shooter for a big man and great hands down low on defense. He'll be missed but he would be missed a lot more if he'd actually led us to some playoff success.

Team has won one playoff series since Aldridge was drafted in 2006

This isn't like Cleveland losing LeBron.

The Raptors lost Bosh (who imo as a #1 is better than Aldridge) and the Raptors have been pretty successful since
You take that back!

Good news for Aldridge: he'll win a title next year, just like Clyde and Sheed did right after they left us. This really sucks. I'm really down about this. I thought we'd eventually get a championship run out of them. Kevin Love, PLEASE come back to Portland!

The Spurs are done. I don't care if they add LA. The core is old as fuck. If they have to move players and let Green go just to sign LA, they're even worse off than before.

yeah, I'm not looking forward to another rebuild. And that is what this is turning into. Three years after the hiring of our General Manager.

Trader Bob anyone?

I was a love supporter, but man you cant have Leonar_ be your best big defender.

Shoulda kept Nic - he'd work beautifully in that sort of system!

KEVIN LOVE IS NOT FROM PORTLAND!!!!!!!!!! WE DO NOT CLAIM HIM!

So Cal. But there is a chance that Daddy misses him and can talk him into taking the Blazers offer seriously where he otherwise wouldn't.

BTW, this would be a better system for him than the one that is being run in Cleveland.

We may have to take it in steps. Love is growing on me. I know what you are saying though, but if we can get him I think we take him and get defensive help next year. And some cheap vet this year to hold us over. Throw Vonleh and Leonard out there to get experience.

Love + Deandre would be a sick duo. Just need to figure out some wings. But we're losing Wes regardless it seems like.

I don't view it as losing Wes

Wes is done. Ruptured achilles is nothing to mess around with as far as giving him any kind of meaningful contract. Not even close to being worth it.

Need to move on from him as well
