Sources: Aldridge has told Blazers he will not return

LMA was never going to be free. He wants a lot of money. He's an expensive agent.

I would like a link explaining this. I seem to remember that players immediately become free agents once the season is over
Some items from the Larry Coon CBA FAQ:

Veteran extensions:
Extensions to contracts that are not rookie scale contracts (i.e., veteran extensions) may be signed up to June 30, the day before the player would have become a free agent.

For contracts with options or ETOs, the end date of the contract is interpreted as the June 30 before an option year, and the June 30 after an ETO year.

A team cannot reacquire a player they traded away during that season (a season being July 1 - June 30). If he is waived by his new team, then he cannot re-sign with his original team until the one-year anniversary of the trade, or until the July 1 following the end of his contract, whichever comes first. However, if a team trades a player's draft rights, they can reacquire the player during the same season.
Option years (except in rookie scale contracts and player options for players who will be restricted free agents) and ETOs must be exercised1 (see question number 59)

June 30:
Deadline to extend a qualifying offer (see question number 44)
Last day to sign an extension (see question number 60)
Players are credited with one year of service
Salary cap year ends

If we go after Love, I'd like to see us pair him with Jordan.

One benefit of going after Monroe is that he's only a 6 yr vet, and his max salary is "only" $16,775,000. If we paired him with a 7-9 yr Vet max of $20,130,000, that would leave the Blazers with 5,763,639. That's a bit over the MLE so we could potentially outbid (by just a bit) other teams for that level of player. Our bench will be thin if we renounce the rights to everyone to clear the space for two max salaries.

Ugh!!!

Blazers have enough trouble trying to bring in big name free agents (understatement) . . . if they can't even keep their top players with lure of bigger money and chance to create history, how the hell is this organization ever going to put together a championship team.

Let's see what Olshey can do with cap space, but there is only so much a Portland Trailblazer Gm can do. Only way I see this team building to the top again is to suck for a few years, get a high draft pick or two and hope for the best. As a season ticket holder this absolutely sucks!

As far as Aldridge goes, iI don't give a rat's ass what happens to him after he leaves the Blazers. I'm a Blazer fan, not an Aldridge fan. Maybe if he embraced the city, showed some love to the local community . . . nah, too bitter to have any kind of love for him right now no matter what kind of Blazer he was . . .

I've been really really anti-Jordan.

Then I realized, we would be able to bench Jordan for Meyers if anyone decided to Hack-a-Jordan, and Meyers can shoot lights out from the free throw line, and everywhere else, compared to Jordan.

Still not crazy about Jordan though.

Maybe it's the name. ;)

LaMarcus Aldridge has already informed the Portland Trail Blazers that he plans to sign elsewhere, according to a Western Conference executive.

The Blazers traded away Nicolas Batum on the eve of the draft in what appeared to be "a rebuilding move."

ESPN's Chris Broussard cited a source saying Aldridge was 99.9 percent certain of leaving the Blazers.

Aldridge will consider the San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, Atlanta Hawks and New York Knicks.

You just don't get how Real GM works...

So Aldridge is considering the Atlanta Hawks over the Portland Blazers?

Lakers just picked Russel in the draft so does that mean he'll be a Blazer?

I only saw the mofo play like a champion once. That was in the houston series, and that seemed almost like a fluke after seeing how atrocious he played in this years playoffs. Aldridge can be considered part of the reason why we lost that first round series. Fuck him, if he wants to burn bridges and talk shit then he can be shit.

Bullshit. Complete and utter bullshit. He was a monster on defense against Memphis. He outplayed both Gasol and Randolph in that series.

Cool. Think of all the money Paul Allen just saved. He can spend that on Wilson.
