Speaker John A. Boehner will resign from Congress and give up his House seat at the end of October

I do it think its very interesting that the resignation came a day after the pope visit. He had invited two other popes to speak in front of congress to no avail, he is a devout Catholic and yesterday was obviously one of the most important days of his life. Extremely emotional. I would love a candid explanation.

On one hand I'm glad he's leaving, but on the other I'm sort of terrified to see who replaces him. At least with Boehner he was willing to be moderate on some issues, but with the direction the party is heading with Teabangelicals calling all the shots for them lately, Congress is going to be even more disastrous.

The image of the Speaker, all choked up while this socialist Pope waxed on made my ass ache.

Revolution is imminent.

Someone must have told you to stick that picture up your ass? They probably didn't mean it literally.

I'm guessing he realized he is going to hell.

Money quote from the article:
“There are anywhere from two to four dozen members who don’t have an affirmative sense of governance,” said Representative Charlie Dent, Republican of Pennsylvania. “They can’t get to yes. They just can’t get to yes, and so they undermine the ability of the speaker to lead. And not only do they undermine the ability of the speaker to lead, but they undermine the entire Republican conference and also help to weaken the institution of Congress itself.”

I like "can't get to yes."

I voted for Dr. No three times.

Can I have some of whatever it is that you're on right now?
He'll make you take his pledge, don't do it man...the drugs wear off, the Trumpazone pain killers will do permanent damage..remember..first ones free

After you get off yours. He was the democrat patsy that was Obama's "yes sir"

But like it even matters anyway. The DC Establishment will bring in another patsy to make you them happy. And the reality is this dumb shit already done enough damage to last 10 years

yeah, that's it.

If he was his Yes man, why has nothing been done?

It couldn't be that labeling him a "yes man" is just the conservatives way of throwing him under the bus, could it? Nope, couldn't be. he obviously worked hand in hand with Obama and the Democrats!

kinda wish this would've happened after the Tea Party mandate. Kind of de-balls what the voters think when the Majority Leader pays more attention to the President's wishes than his constituency.

You say "getting to yes" like it's a good thing. Frankly, I'd rather there be a lot more scrutiny on laws/bills/budgets being passed. From both ends. If a Teabangelical introduces a dumb bill, it shouldn't get passed so that "we can now see what's in it". If the President says he's going to shut down the government through veto because he thinks Planned Parenthood getting tax money is more important than, say, paying federal workers or funding education, then let's have some scrutiny and debate. Make Congresspeople put a vote on the record.

Plus, even when Boehner did things I agree with, the manner in which he did it (or walked back from it under pressure, like raising the retirement age) did not help the country move to a better place.

Actually I think the limp Boehner just woke up, realized Trump was in front of the Republican race and said...OK...that's the last straw..I QUIT!

I think he spent a weekend around normal everyday Americans and realized he wanted be like one of them rather than a Congressional club member..

In order to be a RINO, you must pass as being a Republican. Looking at how he supported a lot of Obama's policies, and kept back peddling to stop the purse after Republicans gained control of congress is exhibit "A"

Nice hyperbole with no substantial backing. It must be such a sad day for democrats now that their puppet has resigned

So wasting our money doing vote after vote to repeal Obamacare which will never be repealed is being the Democrats puppet? Bohner was part of the problem.

You know, it just occurred to me that if you blended Mags and dviss1, politically you'd get me. Physically, that would be interesting. Hope I get dviss1's hair.

Please elaborate on the many Obama proposals that Bohner passed in the House.

I'll wait...

The fact that you're blaming government shutdown on Obama really says all we need to know.
