The Longest and Most Contentious Speaker Election in House History

Just for a bit of historical context. It took them two month to get it figured out in 1855, just a few years before civil war broke out. I'm not a huge history buff, especially going back that far, but can we make any corollaries here? I doubt we end up with someone elected under the banner of multiple parties... The house has been a political boondoggle for far too long at this point for that to happen, but I guess it'd be my preference.

The 20 hardliners are not interested in anyone reasonable. Right now they'd rather vote for a guy in only his second term than for anyone who might possibly compromise and work bi-laterally.
 
I'm surprised they haven't just tried to get TFG as the speaker of the house now.

Meanwhile, George Santos or whatever his name actually is, can't stop lying. He told constituents he had voted against omnibus funding bill. He wasn't in Congress at the time it was voted on.
 
If you are looking for a little schadenfreude, then check out the subreddit www.reddit.com/r/LeopardsAteMyFace. The idea behind the name is when people who "keep pet leopards", are then surprised when their pet leopard turns on them eats their face. Which I think is a perfect metaphor for what is happening with the GOP and their pet leopard MAGA. Anyway enjoy.....
 
If we can have votes for anyone, maybe they should all vote for Kamala Harris, that way she can be both the president of the Senate and the speaker of the house - and they will save one salary. They are all for a smaller, more efficient government, right?

Or just elect the dog. For $85 he will ban any congress member that says stupid stuff.
 
McCarthy, now 0 for 7.........seems like he's been wearing out his knee pads for nothing.
