Speaking of no talent U.S. born white centers

At the draft I put Lamb slightly ahead of Leonard, but in the same 'tier'. Looking at need, questions about Lamb's effort or desire or intensity or whatever you want to call it, and questions about Lamb's questionable mental makeup and intelligence after his interviews, I was firmly in the Meyers Leonard camp. Although many of my conerns with Lamb have kind of dissipated (for no real reason other than time) I'm still happy we have Meyers and I expect good things from him in the future. Of course, that's just my opinion. I don't have any fancy logarithms to back it up. :)

I'd love it if we could trade for Lamb since they don't seem to have any need for him.

It's funny that most talk about Leonard as mainly a defensive C, comparisons to Chandler, etc. And it's certainly what I WANT him to be. But right now his offensive game is much better than his defense, IMO.

Agreed. I'm not concerned about his offensive production - all he needs to do is protect the paint and rebound. If he can do that then I don't care if he only averages 4ppg. Well, at some point I'll care - but I think we've all seen that he can average more than 4ppg, so it's really not a concern.

Me too. I don't watch NCAA, but based off of youtube videos (groan) he appeared to be the only SG with any star potential.
But I don't give a hoot about perceived intelligence via media interviews - so many players sound borderline retarded.

You'd think if OKC were that high on Lamb that they would give him a couple of Thabo's minutes. Its not like Sefolosha and Martin are the type of talents that would prevent a diamond in the rough type talent to stay glued to the bench.

Lamb has been doing so many great things this year to make me regret that the Blazers didn't take him....

Might not be a diamond at all, but I was just stating who I would have taken over Leonard

This.

Very well said, and the general gist of my stance on the situation.

As for Lamb, I know it's only the D League, and guys like Babbitt put up good numbers there, but his last three games have been ridiculous

33/8/3
30/9/8
30/8/2

Shooting
66% from the field
59% from 3pt
93% from FT

Consistent PT in the NBA, and this kid has a chance to be a very good player

i know its just dleague, and guys like Babbitt put up good numbers there, but the last three games have been ridiculous for TORNIKE SHENGELIA

24/13/3/3/2
39/18/6/3/0
22/10/12/3/3 ---triple double!!

Didn't Nolan Smith score like 33 in the dleague a couple weeks ago?

Wow, seems like a great guy for the Nets. Probably too much of a tweener to make it in the pros though. 6'8" it said

There seems to be a lot of bashing going on, and I'm not sure why? You all like Leonard, and I hope he blows up and becomes a great defensive center that we need. I just think we should have taken Lamb, who I thought was the BPA at the time

and 59% from 3? interesting sample size of 3 games

in 14 games in the dleague he is shooting .462/.356

he very well might someday be an all star or whatever your kooky qualifier is for being a "solid" lotto pick, but for the love of god, just stop

I actually don't care about Leonard as much as many in here. I just think that the skin color and country shouldn't be a factor for who you should pick.

yeah some guy named nolan smith is scoring 22 ppg in the dleague, higher than lamb even! solid gold!

I think you are taking this too far. Lamb has looked good in D league. He have great size and athleticism for a two guard. That's it. Others have done well also, which I mentioned. So apparently you would take Nolan Smith over Jeremy Lamb? Using every word you say against you. I can see why you are having so much fun with this.

I like Meyers. He's goofy and affable. I don't believe we should have taken him when we did because of the past results of guys who are big white centers. Maybe Meyers is more athletic, or has a bigger drive, or whatever. You guys point out a lot of players who have been saolid. Cool. All I can think is Chris Mihm, Joel Przybilla, Joe Klein, etc.

lol its just. so. silly

a player scouted as the next tim duncan BUT BETTER is white and coming out of cuse.... you dont draft him in the lotto?

Yes, you found one in the last decade that was good. Congrats. Undrafted kid who turned out pretty damn good

yes, a white american center, a top 5 center during his career, you wouldnt draft him in the lotto. got it.

I'd take a Joel Przybilla over a wing that will maybe average 14-16 PPG. There are a lot of those types of players out there. Doesn't every team already have at least least 1-2 of these types of wings as it is (I know OKC has several, that's why Lamb is in the D-League).

Now, considering I believe Leonard will be better than Przybilla.... It makes it that much more likely I'd prefer Leonard.

It's all opinions, so I'm not hating anyone else's opinion. Except MM's "he's a white American center."

Wasn't Lamb taken before Leonard? I can't remember - at the time I was trying to find trades where we could have gotten 3 picks, two being Lamb and Drummond and I know Drummond went before Leonard (duh).

He was picked right after leonard (12th by Houston)
