  • Special counsel Robert Mueller is asking a judge to grant immunity from prosecution for five potential witnesses at the upcoming federal criminal trial of former Trump campaign chief Paul Manafort, according to a court filing Tuesday.
  • Mueller has also asked U.S. District Court Judge T.S. Ellis to seal the court motions detailing the witnesses, filings show.
  • Manafort's trial is due to start on July 25 in federal court in Alexandria, Virginia, where he is currently being held in jail. His $10 million bond was revoked last month after Mueller accused him of trying to tamper with potential witnesses at his trials.

This is Use Immunity vs Transactional Immunity.

It means nothing they say in court can be used against them but it also means they can't take the fifth.

But if Mueller can prove independently from their testimony they can still be charged for what they testified to.

What? Why would anyone go for that?

If I were Manafort, I'd start to sweat.

Not exactly true. They've still got a possible Trump Get Out of Jail Free card.

Part of plea deal negotiations. Mueller won't give them complete immunity until they show they'll do what they've promised is my guess.
From my years of watching tv they always had to say what they told the prosecutors in open court. Sounds fishy.

Maybe I'll call in sick tomorrow and watch Judge Judy and learn more.

I don't think this is a case of building a fence in the wrong place.

It also means no judge or jury will believe they aren't simply telling lies fed to them by Mueller, who should be prosecuting them for their crimes but instead blackmailed them into committing perjury.

Do you really think that a Republican with a stellar reputation such as Mueller would suddenly turn face and go crooked? Nah, I'm not buying that.

Edit: Please note that virtually everyone approved of his appointment until he started digging up dirt on Trump. Why is that? I think I know, I think I know.

...I would think that in addition to what they'd testify to under immunity, Mueller also has other corroborating evidence to confirm what they'd say.

FBI now says it has a total of 12 audio recording seized from Cohen apartment during raid.
