Spencer Hawes v. Greg Monroe

.... What?

What we want is a center, which is what I think Roytoy is debating. Monroe is clearly not a center. Lopez is a true big body center and performed well above expectations.

We don't need to replace a starter, our starting 5 was one of the best in the league. I believe the debate should be; how do we make our bench better with Monroe, when we would most likely have to battle with Aldridge having to play center when Monroe is on the court.

Monroe is 6'11, 253

Lopez is 7'0 255

How is Lopez more of a big body center?

So shot blocking?

Not just shot blocking. He is a damn good position defender and allows his teammates the best possible position to get rebounds. Also, he's altered many shots and allows us to play centers one on one. Most importantly, Aldridge had a career year with Lopez at center.

I agree that Rolo is very good. I don't want to lose him. I think he'd be a great change of pace, but we NEED a third scoring option and I think Monroe could be a legit third option.

I don't think it's Monroe vs. Lopez.

Rather, it's Monroe vs. Aldridge.

If they land him this is clearly an insurance move in the mold of the Wes Matthews acquisition for Roy.

Monroe is clearly not a center.

Huh? Monroe is similar to Aldridge in size and talent. He is a monster who has never been taught defense. He has All-Star potential at C or PF. Hawes is a journeyman who is finally playing at his ceiling as a finesse 3-point shooting C.

Here's the thing with Monroe I love. He is even a better low post scorer than Aldridge; which means we will have two legit post scorers.

Here's what I hate about Monroe. His rebounding is inflated and doesn't make others around him better. Also, he is an even worse help defender than Aldridge.

Monroe would need to start, regardless if we trade Lopez or not. Our starting 5 just got much weaker defensively

Why do you think his rebounding is inflated? The guy is playing next to a rebound machine in Drummond.

Aldridge is not a center either.

The acquisition would require we trade our starter. I doubt Detroit takes anything less

Monroe would also allow us to play centers one on one, as he did a better job than Robin covering guys in the post.

Mags, honest question, do you ever watch the Pistons?

I did because I'm a huge fan of Drummond. Monroe is a beast on the low block. That part of his game is straight up money. Defensively, he's lazy and lackluster. He doesn't take it seriously

Last year he told me pekovic was a rim protector we needed, so I'd take center evaluation with a grain of salt.

So you are saying you would rather have Monroe than Lopez playing with Aldridge?

Quote me! I never said such a thing! I was never on board with signing pek.

I do remember you saying I was out of my mind thinking Aldridge could get 20/10. How did that work for you?

Quote me! I never said such a thing! I was never on board with signing pek.
That's such bullshit! Lol. I'm on my phone, will find it later unless you find it first and edit it.

As to rebounding, Monroe was a better rebounder before Drummond got there, so no, it isn't because Drummond takes attention away

How much you wanna bet? Wager? $100?

And I won't edit shit cuz I know for a fact I hated pek from the day he was rumored. Anyway, you would see it's edited if I did

Can we also wager when you told me I was out of my mind for thinking Aldridge could average 20/10?

Pek will be a team's biggest mistake next season. He will demand a contract that isn't based on actual performance and his lack of defense will make his fan base go mad watching games.

I sure hope Portland isn't even entertaining the idea.

Or how about this one RR7? You must have me confused with someone else. Where's my $100?

Here is more. Next time you try and discredit me, stop thinking from your asshole!

Don't know why you replied to me this way, unless you think I believe Pek can be a Joel. That's very far from the truth. I'm not high on Pek at all. He's just another hickson type player with less athleticism.

You started a thread on Pekovic. Saying it'd probably cost more than you want to spend.

But then you said:

Yeah Pek would be a great pick up for us but I just don't see it happening. For one Khan has such a hard on for the Blazer organization. He would match, even if it locks his team because he wouldn't want the Blazers to get the better of him. He is one of the weirdest GMs I've seen in ages.

And then...
I think he is a dude that can take up a ton of space in the paint. We are one of the worst rebounding teams in the league; but more importantly, we have a hard time boxing out. HAVING a strong guy down low to clog the paint and make it hard for guards to penetrate and score around the rim is a huge benefit.

I said he didn't protect the rim, you came back with this gem:

I disagree. Mark Eaton wasn't much of a shot blocker or rebounder; but the guy altered so many shots around the rim just because of his size. Does it deserve Max? Probably not, but there is a tax on quality bigs.

Mark Eaton was a very good shot blocker. You don't know what you're talking about. Pekovic is not a rim protector, sorry.

Fuck I really don't! HAHAHAHAHAHA

So, about that 100 dollars you owe me.
