Says Blazers and Spurs are discussing Jefferson which tells me both are likely done with Carter. I dont know how the Bucks would ever take the spurs offer over ours BUT... they are intersted.

And as far as Carter goes, i read in a forum that the hold ing point on a deal is teh nets want our 1st rounder this year and Kp wants to give our firts rounder next year. Nets must think we are a lotto team like i do. With that said, the deal (so it says) is

Carter, Swift, Dooling for RLEC, Travis, Sergio and draft picks

well even if we did make the playoffs we'll probably have a mid round pick.

C'mon Mixum . . . the Nets think we are a lotto team? WITH CARTER??

We have the #4 seed right now. Anything can happen in the 2nd half, including a Blazer collapse. But I don't think anyone can say they think we are a lotto team right now. Especially if we get a SF like Carter.

The Nets deal with draft picks was made by a poster making his first post on RealGM's forums on Saturday, and was completely debunked. It's like quoting a trade proposal on O-Live. Take it with a grain of salt...

I don't have any inside info but I can tell everyone almost for sure we are not trading for VC. I think at the most we might have been trying to drive the price up for Hou or SA but we didn't want him.

its so funny how people say we are in the 4th seed or not in the lotto.

um we are a loss away from the 6th seed and the suns are 2 and a half games back playing the clippers tonight.

if we lose to the grizz which is VERY possible with the deadline and oden out while blake is rusty.....a suns win and blazer loss gives us a GAME AND A HALF LEAD FROM BEING IN THE 9th SPOT. THATS KINDA FUCKING SCARY.
YET MANY MORONS DONT THINK WE NEED A TRADE.

Anyway heres an ESPN update....as of 2pm est time

UPDATED: Feb. 18 -- 1:28 p.m. ET

Carter
J.A. Adande: While the Nets continue to downplay Vince Carter trade talks, other executives in the league expect Carter to be moved.

Quite simply, the Nets "want off Vince," one general manager said said.

Carter is due $16.3 million next season and $17.3 million in 2010-11 (likely taking any team with him on the roster out of play for the 2010 free-agent derby).

But don't be surprised if Carter, a 10-time All-Star, doesn't bring back All-Star talent in return -- especially if a trade with Portland for Raef LaFrentz's expiring contract and Travis Outlaw goes down.

"It comes down to New Jersey giving Vince away," another GM said. "They're hemorrhaging money."

Although Devin Harris has surpassed Carter as the team's best player, Carter is still the biggest name, so at first glance trading him wouldn't make sense in a star-driven business. But as the general manager said, "They're not selling tickets anyway," and Carter isn't enough of a box office draw to cover his $15 million salary this season.

With a mediocre team playing in a lame-duck, 27-year-old stadium and ground yet to be broken on a new arena in Brooklyn, the Nets have averaged 14,805 fans per game this season. That ranks 25th on the league's attendance list.

"They're hurting," the second general manager said. "The league's hurting. The world's hurting."

Hinrich
John Hollinger: I'm hearing for the first time discussion of the Bulls moving Kirk Hinrich, though the destination is still unknown -- "not Portland," my spy says.

Such a deal makes great sense for the Bulls but it's hard to know who would find his contract palatable in these times.

The Bulls also want to move Andres Nocioni. No surprise there -- the news is that I hear they may actually succeed.

Jefferson
Chris Broussard: The Bucks badly want to move Richard Jefferson, and probably will.

They're talking with Portland, which is looking for a small forward. And the Bucks are also talking with San Antonio -- Jefferson would really look good in a Spurs uniform.

Calling the Blazers a playoff team and 'morons' thinking we don't need a trade are not exclusive to one another. I think it's pretty evident that a lot of people want a trade here but still believe we're a playoff team regardless.

Great line . . .

Something that has not been said ( I think having read almost all the posts on trades ) is that KP does not only have the best Chip in the pot (RELC) but has been doing a marvelous job of setting up a trade scenarios for all of the players that could be of help to the Blazers.

No GM knows for sure what KP will do as he could take any of the deals out there. Those other GM's must be feeling a lot of pressure if they have a deal with him in the works. KP can take any or none of the deals so is in a very enviable position.

After the trade deadline the Blazers will IMO be a better team. :ghoti::cheers::biglaugh::clap::lol:

I suppose I'd fall into that category, but I will say the playoffs aren't looking as promising now with Phoenix apparently rejuvenated and Utah getting healthy again. Our best hope now might be New Orleans or Dallas falling off, but regardless we'll have to have to have a strong finish ourselves. I personally think a trade involving Raef's contract is a foregone conclusion. I'd be shocked if we didn't do something.

It's going to be tough for sure... but this lotto team crap, calling people morons and idiots, and taking every rumor as fact, I think is

i'm sure they would if they got enough.

NJ and Thorn are the hardest team/person to trade with IMO. He is a complete ass and trying to trade for Harris would be almost impossible.

Put it this way... if the Blazers coughed up Roy, Przybilla, and Rudy, the Nets might consider it.

The Nets would trade Harris and a 1st for Roy... who is better than Harris and is younger. I'm pretty sure almost every GM would take Roy over Harris.

But PDX would be the laughing stock of the league to trade Roy for Harris.

Thank you resident douchebag, you're spot on as always.

Anyway, would you guys do that Raef trade for David Lee and then build a package around Rudy and Aldridge and Bayless and try to get a Devin Harris type player?

Harris, Roy, ?, Lee, Oden

Absolutely wouldn't trade LMA, Rudy and Bayless for Harris. Harris is a good player but not a great player. I wouldn't even trade LMA for him but I know some people would. I think Bayless has a chance to end up as good of a player as Harris.
