LaMarcus Aldridge missed Wednesday's preseason game with back spasms.

Aldridge said he awoke in the team hotel with a stiff back.

“Probably just slept funny,” said Aldridge, who was walking gingerly in the locker room before the game.

Aldridge hopes to return by Sunday, when he is scheduled to make his home preseason debut against Detroit.

All that extra weight can do that. Maybe that home cookin aint so good.

Holy crap, I checked the box score of the game and even without Aldridge, the Spurs played 18 players - 17 of them at least 9 minutes. But, that's what preseason is for. Give the vets a little burn to shake off the rust, try different combinations and most of all, evaluate the guys who are fighting it out for the last few roster spots.

ATL also played 17 players, but some of them were just 3 or 4 minutes.

That photo looks like LaMarcus has gone full Felton.

And it's nice to see Pops already training LaMarcus to come up with good...well, excuses to get out of playing.

It looks like he has a kidney problem to me. His face looks puffy as hell.

Yeah, I agree...I am surprised to hear he's THAT out of shape. He never did that here, even when we didn't have a shot at contending. I guess a huge, guaranteed contract will do that to you.
Yeah, look at Damian. He's getting paid! And look at his work ethic. ;]

I hope it's just, and believe it's just, a bad angle/timing of the picture.

I hope so too.

However

1. Pro athlete...painful career could lead to abuse of ibuprofen
2. Heart surgeries/condition (medications?)
3. Back hurts for no reason (who knows if it's true?)

I haven't seen a normal pic of him but his face in this pic looks like a guy who gained 75lbs, I can't imagine that he did.

Hope I'm wrong and I can't imagine how he could have kidney problems without them knowing.

...I didn't know the Spurs re-signed DeJuan Blair too :dunno: oh wait, that's LaMarcus!

LMA looks horrible. Maybe he is doing it on purpose though? A double-agent making sure the Spurs underachieve this year.

He took less than the Max to sign with the Spurs, right? Maybe we're paying him the difference. If you can't beat 'em, beat 'em by joining 'em.

I'm pretty stupid when it comes to NBA contracts and stuff but I'm pretty sure he got the max that the Spurs could give him, he just could have gotten more if he signed with us. I could be completely wrong though.

Correct. We could've given him 5 years he only got 4 from Spurs. But he can be a free agent in 3 years so he should be able to sign his next contract a year earlier. DeAndre signed identical contract even though he could've added extra year.
