My co-worker had to be hospitalized this weekend with severe withdrawal from an antidepressant drug.

Reading online and watching YouTube videos, the risk-to-benefit ratio with SSRI's just don't seem like they are worth it.

Anyone here have experience with SSRI's like Zoloft, Prozac, Lexapro, etc.?

My first wife did and they were not very helpful. As I understand it there are two ways to medicate for depression- uppers or more specific RX that actually replaces the chemicals not being produced. The vast majority of the doctors go for the uppers like Zoloft, Prozac... as they are much easier to prescribe and somewhat get the job done. IMHO it's lazy doctoring.

I take an SSRI predominantly for anxiety. I've never had any ill effects from it. I barely notice if I don't take it for a while other than the fact that I get anxiety attacks in stressful situations.

That is what I take. I'm a little weirded out right now cause on that Wikipedia page under "Unapproved/off-label/investigatory" it says "It also has been used with some success in the treatment of pedophilia.[11]"

Summary execution works as well, or so I've heard.

Did you know that prior to the Holyfield/Tyson fight Mike was on Zoloft for a while and his trainers took him off the SSRI cold turkey? He was absolutely out of his mind promoting and during that fight!
