For those of you who don't know, the Red Hot Chili Peppers' long awaited ninth studio album, titled Stadium Arcadium, hits stores this Tuesday. It'll be a 28-track double album and is apparently unlike anything the Peppers have done to date.

I know it's been leaked, and is also available for a free listen at http://www.vh1.com/artists/az/red_hot_chil...opThis=playIt(), but I'm waiting until I get my copy this week to hear it all.

Does anyone have any reviews, opinions, etc. of the album?

Got the first half (from a friend.. Disc One -- I think it's called Jupiter), I must say, best thing since Californication (became a fan after that album..).

Dani California and Slow Cheetah are awesome.. gonna check out the other half soon.. I hope to actually buy the album, so I can get a chance to check out all the extra stuff RHCP puts in their albums.

When I heard Dani California, I was hooked. I'm definitely picking this album up. Ususally bands that have been in the business for a while just don't know when they are past their prime (*cough* Metallica, St. Anger *cough*), but RHCP sounds as good as ever.

RHCP always delivers on their ablums and videos. I haven't listened to a single song from Stadium Arcadium yet, I want to hear it all at once.

It'd be hard to top Californication. That album was pure genius.

It's interesting you mention Slow Cheetah too. My brother who previewed the album last week was telling me that Slow Cheetah was the best on the entire (double) album. Can't wait to finally get a listen...

I'm not a huge fan of Dani California. Maybe it's because I've been waiting for over four years for this album, or maybe it's because they've pushed the release date back 10-15 times already, but whatever the reason may be, I had higher hopes for the first single. Thinking back to Californication, the first singles (Scar Tissue, Californication, and Around the World) were probably the best songs on the album, and the same could be said for By The Way. I just hope that's not the case for this one.

The Peppers have really managed to stay current though. Pearl Jam, Metallica, and countless others have really lost it, but the Peppers still have that youthful, sexual (yes, I said sexual), and funky energy that comes across in their music.

1979-present... amazing

I was supposed to buy $35 worth of video games from a guy this morning I met over another forum, but I decided to not show up at the subway station as I figured I needed the money to buy this album. Needless to say, the guy was pissed...

Guess what I am holding in my hand right now?

'tis a beautiful thing. Awesome album. This is worth the wait

Am I the only one who really likes Snow (Hey Oh) ? There are so many good songs on that album.
Top 5 for me would be:
1.Snow (Hey Oh)
2.Slow Cheetah
3.Dani California
4.She's Only 18
5.21st Century

I've got the album in my hands, but I'm waiting until I get off work on Friday to listen to it; it's hard for me to fully appreciate music while I'm stressed out.

Got it yesterday too, and it's great. Listened to the Jupiter disc last night and it was simply orgasmic. Slow Cheetah was good but I thought it sounded too much like Californication. Stadium Arcadium was a great song, and I liked Torture Me too.

As for Snow (Hey Oh), it was a good song, but I won't say it's the best on the album.

Great thing about this one is that every song is listenable, very rare in albums today.

Sounded too much like Californication? IMO all their songs should sound like Californication...

How's "She's Only 18"?

If all their songs sounded like Californication, how would Californication be any better than other songs?

On your whim, I listened to She's Only 18 again. Classic RHCP, the thing though is all the songs sound so good that none stand out.

I just bought this CD, it is so sweet. I like Snow (Hey Oh), it's one of my favorites on this CD. I haven't been able to listen to it all yet though.

I still haven't listened to it yet. I'm not really sure why, but maybe it's because I've been waiting for this album for more than four years, so I just want everything to be perfect when I listen to it. I want to be able to just lay down and listen to every single track all the way through without interruption and without any other stresses in the back of my mind, so it may be a while before I get to hear this thing.

Just got it and I'm listening now. So far I like Dani California, Shes only 18 and Especially In Michigan.

I agree, Dani California sounds like Californication.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting hustler:</div><div class="quote_post">I agree, Dani California sounds like Californication.</div>

No, it doesn't, whatsoever. They're not even comparable. In fact, "Dani California" sounds more like "Purple Haze" in terms of guitar playing than anything the Peppers have ever done.

Trip was saying "Slow Cheetah" sounds like "Californication" anyway, not "Dani California."

I agree. I skipped my second period in order to get the new Tool album, and listened to it that upcoming weekend because of school and job getting in the way during the week.

Stadium Arcadium is great BTW. Their best.

I bought this CD when it first came out may 9th. I SKIPPED my first period of school to buy this CD guys. I'm a huge RHCP fan! I was the first one at walmart to buy it guys. I went running through the aisles pushing through a group of people standing next to the CD rack. As i run and shove, i hear "uhhh Excuse me!! .....Hey Watch out Kid!" as i grab the CD i look back and realize all the people i just pushed.....WORKED for WALMART! hahaha i was so embarassed. They hadnt even put the price tag on the CD yet!! hahaha

Also i saw your guy's list of favorite songs. But you failed to mention....

Storm in a TeaCup
and
Hump de Bump (Great song)

I finally listened to both albums all the way through, and it's a lot to take in... 28 tracks... so I'm not really sure what my favorites are, but right now I can't get Snow (Hey Oh) out of my head.

Amazing work, I'm a little disappointed with some though. I'm going to give it another 3-4 listens before I fully analyze any part of it though.

Here's how I'd rate the songs on the first disc, Jupiter, after about three or four listens -

1) Stadium Arcadium
2) Snow ((Hey Oh))
3) Wet Sand
4) She's Only 18 - Amazing chorus and guitar work, but Kiedis' vocals almost ruin it.
5) Especially In Michigan
6) Torture Me
7) Hey
8) Strip My Mind - Not a real big fan of Kiedis' vocals on here either, but love Frusciante's. He should have sang the song.
9) Hump de Bump
10) Dani California
11) Slow Cheetah - Sounds nothing like Californication though.
12) Charlie
13) C'Mon Girl
14) Warlocks - Really disappointed with this song. I heard Billy Preston was on it. Where is he? If he's there, he's unnoticable.

I think Mars is better than Jupiter so far, but I've only heard it all the way through once, so I won't rate those songs yet.

I also think my list will be different in the middle of the summer, because the Chilis tend to write songs that take a while to grow on me but that I eventually fall in love with.

After another listen to Mars, here are my rankings for it -

1) Make You Feel Better - Just really loving the drums and vocals in this song so far. It's probably the best vocals on the c.d., not necessarily lyrically, but in terms of the quality of his voice.
2) If - I know a lot of you just don't get this song. It's super slow, very mellow, but it's beautiful. I love it.
3) Desecration Smile - They originally had a different chorus that I didn't like that much. It was great to put the c.d. on and hear they changed it.
4) Hard To Concentrate - See "If"
5) Readymade - Great, old school Chilis sound. They did it live about a year before the album came out though, and the solo was different/better. Although, on the studio version the drums after the guitar solo were turned up and Kiedis' vocals were turned down, which is great, because when done live, his vocals are way too loud on that part.
6) Animal Bar
7) Death of a Martian - Beautiful song, but I think I'm just not rating it top five because I had higher expectations for it after everything I had read on it. I expected it to be an epic, like "Venice Queen" or "Warm Tape".
8) 21st century - Like "Readymade", this song has been out there for about a year now, so I've had a chance to let it really grow on me.
9) Storm In A Teacup
10) She Looks To Me
11) So Much I
12) Turn It Again
13) Tell Me Baby - I know it's their next single, but it's just too 'poppy' for me to get into right now.
14) We Believe

Alright, I've finally gotten a good feel of the album, so here's how I'd rank the songs on the whole. ***Note: It's inconsistent with my individual albums list, but that's because since I've listened to it more, my opinion of some songs has changed.***

1) Stadium Arcadium
2) If
3) Snow ((Hey Oh))
4) Desecration Smile
5) Death of a Martian
6) Make You Feel Better
7) Storm In A Teacup
8) Wet Sand
9) She's Only 18
10) Especially In Michigan
11) Tortue Me
12) Hey
13) Hump de Bump
14) Readymade
15) Hard To Concentrate
16) Tell Me Baby
17) Slow Cheetah
18) 21st Century
19) Dani California
20) Animal Bar
21) Strip My Mind
22) Charlie
23) We Believe
24) Turn It Again
25) She Looks To Me
26) Warlocks
27) C'Mon Girl
28) So Much I

I have had the first disc in my car stereo since I bought it, and I'm not sick of it yet

RHCP is truly the greatest American band since the Doors

Am I the only one who thinks that the best vocals on the entire album are on "Make You Feel Better"? It's too bad that the lyrics are mediocre. If you replaced the vocals on "If" with those, it'd be the perfect song, but the vocals on "If" almost ruin it.

Here's my new top five after becoming very familiar with the album -

1) Wet Sand
2) She's Only 18
3) Death of a Martian
4) Hey
5) Stadium Arcadium

"If" would be #1 if it didn't have those vocals by Kiedis on them, or if it was just Frusciante singing.

Agree asbout Make You Feel Better. Its my favorite song right now but i agree the lyrics arent great my top 8:

1) Make You Feel Better
2) Snow
3) Torture Me
4) Especially in Michigan
5) Strip My Mind
6) Dani California
7) Charlie
8) Readymade
