With the way our roster is looking, I think you need to put the 5 players on the court that can help you win a god damn game! JB straight brings it every night. Maybe there are gonna be some turnovers every now and then, but I'm OK with that. He only knows one way to play and that is to attack the motherfuckers he's playing! Positions be damned, floor the 5 guys that will bring it regardless!

Yea I was thinking of painting up a big sign that read "FREE BAYLESS" the next game.

Always good for a laugh.

Yeah, Playless needs some more burn.

HCP, you bringeth the voice of reason!

Agreed. Where can I sign the petition at? :)

Do you not think Bayless should see more time on the court?

I don't see what starting him does for the team. It's not like he's a good player with the ball out of his hands.

Its not like Blake is a good player, ever. Let alone with the ball in his hands. :devilwink:

Why not? He can defend well, he's quick, and he's aggressive. It's not like his defense is terrible. In fact, I'd rate it better than Miller, Blake, Roy, etc.

He can run off screens, he can penetrate, and he can run the break (albeit I've seen very little of this w/him in), and I know he can dish when needed.

To me, he's an upgrade of major proportions over our current starting PG. I mean, does Steve Blake really run the fucking offense, or does he just give it to Roy late in the shot clock?

EDIT: Of course, I can't blame our offensive woes all on Steve, our offensive scheme sucks-ass.

Rewind 2 weeks ago and I assumed we were a team that was bound for the 2nd round of the playoffs. I wanted our two vets PG's to run the show. Now..................... I could care less if he starts, but play the kid 40 minutes a game. He creates problems for the opposing team. He attacks. Look at the last couple games. With our offense as stagnant as it is, it can't hurt to give him some run.

He has the worst Drtg out of the Blazer guards. Bayless has two solid games, and suddenly it's time to start him.

This has to be the most knee-jerk fanaticbase in the NBA.

You forget that he improves as he gets minutes, as opposed to Steve (f'n) Blake whose had how many years over Bayless...

Come on, you're smarter than that.

And how can you not see his defense is light years ahead of Blakes? How many times have you seen Brooks torch Blake, now ask yourself, has he torched Bayless?

+1. Not only that, starting him gives tyou a decent idea this season whether he can realistically play the point moving forward. might as well find out now. Still playing with two of our stars. If he can handle running the team, or playing PG well the rest of this season, it can make KP feel a lot better in the offseason, or at the deadline, knowing we have our PG answer.

and just what is your brilliant idea? play the guy who does nothing - Blake? Have 3 guys in the starting lineup who have NO consistent offense at all. Give is an idea or STFU!

Let's let the team figure out a rotation before demanding changes.

Time to mix things up! Only 2 things have been successful over the past few games. BROY's scoring is going up and JB's instant offense whenever he see time on the court. What's there to lose. And I know basketball, not drgt or whatever it's called. Bayless can ball. Give him a chance.

HCP needs to be the Blazers new head coach! Bayless has proven over and over and over that he need more playing time. Coach HCP is the one to do it.

Papa get a clue, we've only had two starting rotations until the Oden injury. The original starting five and then the 3 guard lineup - none has worked well and with oden gone and Pryz instead we have even LESS offense with the starters - one would think we just might try to correct that, but according to your brilliant logic that's "demanding changes". My God man it's already broke and Blake is god awful, give Miller AND Bayless a chance in the starting lineup.

NO kidding! why do some here have such a problem with trying something different when what we're doing is failing? Unbelievable, if it does not work at least we tried it, and with all the injuries is there ever a better time?

I like your thinking, this season has now become a time to mix it up a bit and try some new unorthodox lineup's and unpredictable offense. When we had Oden we needed to play it more conservatively and stick with what we knew in order to best set ourselves up for the playoffs. But now, contending during the playoffs is not going to happen so we need to see what our players abilities are and what new schemes we can try out.

One of the most fundamental goals of this season now should be to integrate Bayless in as PG with Roy, so they'll both be ready to go as permanent back court mates next year when we get back into contention.

DO IT!

3 starting line-ups now in 22 games, and the team is 13-9. I apologize if my "brilliant cluelessness" is willing to let the team figure out who needs to be playing, and at what times of the game.

And yes, I consider a thread titled "START BAYLESS!" as somebody demanding a change. Plus, Bayless, Miller, and Roy in the starting line-up together? And I'm the "clueless" one! :biglaugh:

that's when Oden was starting and against a lot of weak teams, ya think we'll go 13- 9 if we start that wrecking crew? I got $500 that's willing to bet on it.

It can't hurt.

Blake is so fucking atrocious. His "breakout season" last year and he was still mediocre.

I don't know. My brilliant logic has not a clue!

yep. I don't want to completely punt the season. I want to play hard, and still make the playoffs. Once you get there, you never know what can happen. But, with Oden, Batum, Outlaw and Rudy all out, it's time to start taking some hard looks at who is going to be here long term amongst our remaining guys. Starting Bayless allows you to explore moves with blake, Miller, Rudy and even webster, if he shows he is a more than capable starting PG going forward, alongside Roy and LMA. We know what we have in Blake, so there isn't really more there to analyze.

Papa G ever take notice of the strength of schedule? 5W and 6L in the last 11 and those 5 wins were Detroit (8-12), Minnesota (3-17), Chicago (7-11), New Jersey (1-19) and Houston (good win).

You can blame injuries, roster changes, coaching, whatever, the fact of the matter is the team is not as good as their wins indicate and that is starting to catch up to us. 12-5 5 games ago, now 13-9.

Yeah, and changes are being made, and roles are being figured out. I'm hoping the coaching staff isn't trying to mail in the season, as I get the sense some posters here are.
