What if Myers Leonard had started last night against GS? Instead of 0 for 10 shooting, the Blazers might have had 3-pointers from Myers--and lead, or stayed with, GS early. No Blazer was scoring early, but the best scoring threat was not in the game! The momentum would have been different and the outcome consequently better with early 3-point scores by Myers!
We are now dreading these early failures to score. I have to ask why it makes sense to start Noah Vonleh instead of Myers Leonard.
Myers has the potential to score 18 or more points per game (based on 12 swish3's plus FTs), and should be starting both halves, and playing for at least 24 minutes of each game. Myers should also be more strongly encouraged to take each open 3-point opportunity. He seems overly generous with finding them for others when he is one of the most efficient scoring threats.
Effectiveness in passing to get the open favorite spot shot by the most productive shooters needs to be considered. This strategy would bring the Blazers closer to balanced scoring, and seems to be much improved when Myers is in the lineup, which should be much more in my opinion.
