I'm not a Meyers fan at all but I agree with this. Too bad there aren't really that many big guys who take it to the post these days. That's why Leonard's defense is rarely any good. He can't guard quicker players and he's pretty bad at team defense.Very true. He plays his best games against big guys who take it to the post. I think there is enough evidence to back that up. I will admit that he played one of his best overall games last night.
If we just played Gasol or Cousins every game. .......if only. ...I'm not a Meyers fan at all but I agree with this. Too bad there aren't really that many big guys who take it to the post these days. Sounds like sour grapes.
Fair point.Leonard isn't a defender per se; he's a frustrater, like the opposite of an intimidator. I used to play the same game. Guards would see my slow white ass and decide to drive it past me. I'd turn around and cap them as they tried to lay it up. That's bad defense, but it frustrated the hell out of them.

Sounds like we had very similar games!Leonard isn't a defender per se; he's a frustrater, like the opposite of an intimidator. I used to play the same game. I would talk a whole lot of shit to piss them off. Most people don't play well when they're mad.

Ditto. I remember being 13ish and embarking on a 10 day bike trip thinking that I'd be able to dunk by the end of the trip. Nope! But I made up for it with an unblockable hook shot. That hook shot and my ability to block shots frustrated my friends so much!Being 6'0" at 13 helped make up for my 6" vertical.
With the win over the Kings, there are more reasons to consider starting Meyers--with instructions to do more shooting. Meyers seems to have the touch, the varied offense, skilled assist, and rebound success that contributes to Blazer scoring of >110 points. Meyers looked strong in the game highlights.
Holding DeMarcus Cousins to 4 of 21 shooting with major input from Meyers is an accomplishment that deserves notice, and considered with strong performance against Gasol and other leading scorers does justify giving him the chance during this home series. This is progress.
I couldn't read past that part. hahahahaha.Nopedo we have a DLeague affilate?
Early on I learned the Isiah Thomas, standing on the opponents toe trick..keeps em from blowing by you everytimeLeonard isn't a defender per se; he's a frustrater, like the opposite of an intimidator. It makes a lot of sense to encourage excellent defense, whether Cousins wants to recognize it or not.
Meyers does have a number of fans outside his family and immediate friends. Swish3 should be considered one of them.
I believe it's the # of Meyers fans outside his friends and family. So the numeral in your username now refers to the personage by which you prefer to refer to yourself?

whoosh - my understated slight went right over your head. Maybe green font next time!
There is a highly informative discussion of why the Blazers should start Meyers, implying that he should have 30+ minutes and take 10+ swish3 shots per game on the Potential Upside Podcast EP 2 with Dan Marang at

Meyers is starting to USE what he's learned and not overthink everything and stutter step through plays..his whole demeanor has changed noticeably the last few games which is great for us.Watching tonight, I noticed something that I'd not really seen before: Meyers directing the offense. Specifically, when Dame wasn't on the floor with him, it seemed that Meyers was really controlling things out there.
Is this something that he's been doing regularly and I've just missed it?
He's still afraid to shoot unless he's wide open, which pisses me off. But more often than not, when he passed up a shot he probably should have taken, it resulted in an even better shot for a teammate (the end of the third quarter notwithstanding).Meyers is starting to USE what he's learned and not overthink everything and stutter step through plays..his whole demeanor has changed noticeably the last few games which is great for us.
