Turner at point, Crabbe at 2, chief 3, Noah 4, Ezeli 5. Almost a balanced offense tooIf Vonleh continues to evolve into the kind of two-way player we need, I'd love to see him starting at PF. Move Chief back to his more natural SF position. His D is as good as Harkless' and even though his form sucks, he's a better 3-point shooter.
But when we need a stop. I'd love to see Vonleh at the 4 with Ezeli at the 5 and Aminu at the 3. If you have enough timeouts left to go with offensive/defensive substitutions you could even add Harkless or Turner at the 2.
Plus, we could also run a good small ball defensive unit with Noah at the 5, Aminu at the 4 and Harklesss or Turner at the 3.
Vonleh's improvement gives us so many more options. That's the difference a single good two-way player provides.

Back-up PF.
Me too. Hate it when he's SF...but again, maybe off the bench he'd be better at either position. But with Turner/Crabbe there's no reason for him to ever play SF.I am OK with that. But I like him better at the 4 than the wing.
I get that, too. But then I think about how his presence could totally open up the floor for Dame/CJ. They're still playing without a low-post presence, or even a true 3rd option - it's looking like Vonleh could provide them with both. And with Turner, Crabbe, and Aminu off the bench (along with one of Dame/CJ) I think we should be fine with offensive fire power...hopefully Turner finds some semblance of an offensive game sooner rather than later.I like Vonleh and his offensive presence coming off the bench.
Added Turner: “There’s a beast in him that is going to continue coming out. Once he taps into it and understands who he is and how good he can be, he will be a force to be reckoned with.’’
McCollum sees the same future for Vonleh.
“He’s strong as an ox, and once he figures out how strong he is and how good he can be, he is going to be a terror in this league, just because of his skillset,’’ McCollum said.
Even from summer league till now. What happened? He was unimpressive in summer league, where he should have been able to dominate against non nba talent. But he doesn't even look like the same player at all right now.
Love the confidence he showed.
It's just one game.
nice to see him appear to e "getting it", now of we could only get that from MeyersVonleh is still so young and there are going to be ups and downs. Last night was a good up
yup. Last night was the best I've seen him look as a Blazer. The form on his J was so improved. He went up without hesitating or the hitch he had last year. The Utah announcers I was blessed with listening to said he'd really been working on it this offseason. So important a guy of his size isn't limited to just playing in the paint on Offense.Love the confidence he showed.

His ability has always been there. He was the best player in the Big-10 as the youngest Freshman in the league. Then he shot well in limited minutes his rookie season. That ability didn't go away but he was not playing against men. It was just going to take time. He is as strong as an ox, can shoot, can post up and is a very versatile defender. None of those things are new. What is different is his mindset and confidence which is not unexpected for someone who was so young. Even from summer league till now. What happened? He was unimpressive in summer league, where he should have been able to dominate against non nba talent. But he doesn't even look like the same player at all right now.

I see a reason--because there might be none.If he continues to progress through out the season, I see no reason why Olshey does not field offers for Meyers at the deadline.

10m for a guy like Meyers really isn't much. There will be offers.
It's the hair!Even from summer league till now. What happened? He was unimpressive in summer league, where he should have been able to dominate against non nba talent. But he doesn't even look like the same player at all right now.
Maybe him just reading those quotes helped?Reposting from Quick's peeping Tom article:
He seems to be figuring it out.

SportsTwo at it's finest lol. In reality I think Vonleh is our starting 5 next year. If you remember the regular season game we won against GSW last year we played our current SL but with him at the 5 and they had absolutely no answer for it.And to think so many jack asses wanted to cut him... learn some patience and how progression actually works.
