Just saw a commercial on CNBC for this, and it piqued my interest. I wonder if the state of Oregon has ever considered something like this (since the prevailing wisdom is that our current makes us highly unfriendly to new businesses). What do you guys think about this concept?

If tax free for business is good policy, why not do it throughout the whole country?

New York has been shedding population for a long time now and this is a way to try and reverse it. Lenient tax policy is not normally a democratic party idea, but Andrew Cuomo seems desperate enough to give it a try.

I think it's mainly the city tax which is bullshit on the first place. Usually a gross receipts tax.

Per the site it's a whole host of taxes:
  • Business tax
  • Organization tax and license and maintenance fees
  • MCTD mobility tax
  • Sales and use tax
  • Real estate/real property transfer tax
  • Personal income taxes (NY State and NY City).
