I think Moe could join the club next season, and I sure hope Collins does.

we disagree then..it's all good...I really like how his game has evolved this offseason...I would say that Layman can't do either well enough.

couldn't disagree more.....To me, Jake is either on or off and mostly off. And when he's off, I don't feel like he helps the team. In fact, I don't think it registers to him that he's off and he keeps shooting, which doesn't help the team... Hopefully this Summer League is a new Jake, but it'll take some good regular season games to convince me he even belongs in the NBA.
We might just be disagreeing about the definition of a "2-way player" is. I would say something like top 30 at your position in both offense and defense. Nurk is a top 30 center on the offensive end and at the defensive end. Layman has improved, but isn't top 30 in anything.we disagree then..it's all good...I really like how his game has evolved this offseason...

I basically agree, but there is an actual answer not based on your, my, or @riverman 's feelings. How far do other teams sag off of him? If I'm a defender in 2017-18, I'm sagging way the hell off to help my teammates. Hopefully, this new SL Jake will be different, and consider the "3rd year leaps" made by other Blazers, it's very possible. To me, Jake is either on or off and mostly off. This feels like a great meme:the NBA is so soft that now they rest guys in summer league games.

Parenthetically, this is yet another problem with ET. I was thinking/hoping/praying we were getting a 2-way player when we signed him.
The fact that he is a 0-way player (not top 30 in either O or D) is bonecrushing.
The fact that he is destroying our cap is soulcrushing.
It's actually quite an accomplishment for a single human to both bonecrush and soulcrush an entire NBA fan base.
He led the Blazers and Celtics last game in per....+28....that means he's productive without the ball in his hands...and it was his lowest scoring game of the series...I've seem him play pretty much a swiss army knife role and not need to shoot just to shoot...he's shown me he's got a high BBIQ and is an unselfish player....Baldwin and him paired up really well together...he played well with Zach as well...I think he's the guy who will make the biggest leap this upcoming season...We might just be disagreeing about the definition of a "2-way player" is. I've stated that several times...he's seems completely engaged in every game so far. credit where credit is due..I've seen a team player who's making the right play most of the time and few mistakesYou don't notice he seems to lack a conscious? Or as they say: has never seen a shot he doesn't like?

I've said since he got here that CJ is a perfect 6 man...green light scorer...he won't accept that role but it is the role that suits him best...he has that Jamal Crawford, young Jason Terry mindset of scoring in bunches...as it is he'll still start at the 2 and Baldwin will be on court as pg with either Lillard or CJ.
I'm adding Layman to the list...his defense in underrated...people just guage him by scoring stats but he's a good all around player these days.

Glad you're not in charge then.
Layman is barely an NBA player. If I were in charge, he wouldn't even be on the team right now.
If by that you mean that CJ needs to learn the drive and dish, I totally agree with you.I allways get angry when i see CJ doing his solo 1vs5 iso shit Show and the teammates are open. He takes way to many difficult shots with below Average efficiency. CJ pretty much kills our Offense, he kills the Flow and the rythm of his teammates. If i'm the Coach, i would bench him so he can think about it. But Stotts is a pussy and alows CJ Everything. It's all about Ball movement and sharing the Ball, and we were dead last in Assists last year . And a Lot of that had to do with CJ 1on1 shit

So, the guy who is 9th in career 3FG% (.409) among active players, and 20th in career 3FG% in the entire history of the league is below average in efficiency? Man, tough crowd.
BNM
I think Stotts wants him to take those shots. He wants him to make them. If he doesn't do it at a higher rate this season I think Olshey will let him go.You don't notice he seems to lack a conscious? Or as they say: has never seen a shot he doesn't like?
