Stephen A. Smith says Dame should "demand to be traded"

Haha he wants so bad without actually saying it for Dame to go to the Knicks

Yeah, that Seattle..which lost its basketball team. He should go there instead.

I'd like to hear Damians response. Has anyone tweeted this to him yet?

Man, talk about not understanding how Lillard is wired. Chris Paul, James Harden, Russell Westbrook? Yeah those guys would punk the small town that drafted them and demand a trade to brighter lights if they weren't getting All-Star accolades. Dame's like, more wood for the fire. If you don't recognize how good I am, that's on you.

Um, being in a small market means nothing to coaches that select the reserves. The West just has too many good guards and someone has to get left out.

I remember how butthurt SAS was in 2007 when Portland won the lottery and Seattle got the 2nd pick. Claiming how awful that was for the league because they weren't far enough east.

This is a guy who literally thinks the entire world revolves around New York and Philadelphia. Dame should "demand" a trade like Smith should "demand" a brain.

and so what begins?
The inevitable national sports media's chorus of 'should (Player X) want out of (Small market city) cause they can't get any respect there?' I have a feeling this is going to be a theme on ESPN in the coming weeks as we get closer to the All-Star game. The blazers as a team will be expectedly mediocre but with dame averaging 25/6/5 the last 3 years and still not making the team... The snubs are becoming really glaring at this point. Writers will search for reasons to explain it and there is only one left.... Portland itself. All-Star is no longer a title for your quality of play on the court as much as it is a popularity contest, and if Dame really wants some recognition for his hard work (which most people do but Dame may not) he will have a VERY hard time finding it in Portland with the way the rules are set up.

Well, a mediocre Pelicans team just put two players in the West Starting Lineup, so... maybe there is something to it after all.

Steven A says:

WE don't give this man the respect love :blahblah:

He's completely right.

The media and the rest of the country doesn't give Lillard the respect and love he deserves.

HE GETS THAT FROM US THOUGH.

SO make fucking sense when you talk or just don't talk..

I don’t understand how that loud mouthed idiot has managed to stay on television and radio as long as he has.... every time I cave and listen to his takes, I feel less intelligent and a little dirty afterwards.

If making the All-Star game is important to Damian, then SAS isn't wrong . . .

I think I lost brain cells listening to that moron.

i actually liked it, only because in a way i agree with him.
one of the biggest reasons dame hasnt been making the all star team is in fact because he plays in portland. not becuase of how many fan votes he gets but because of the performance of our team. The mediocre talent that hes surrounded and stuck with is the reason, not the amount of fan votes he gets.
its nice to see it getting national attention, even if our city got thrown under the bus.
and since we're on the topic of the fan base..my family has had season tickets my entire 30 years on this earth and this year is by far one of the most boring arena experiences ive seen. probably also because of the teams success but we do not bring it like we use to. just sayin

I can’t believe some of you actually watched that video. Guys a fucking moron. Same thing happens when you guys post links from some of the local writers.....no need to even read.

Here's the final fan voting for guards for the All Star Game:

Stephen A's take is particularly dumb because Dame being in a bigger market wouldn't put him ahead of Curry or Harden and those are the only two guard selections influenced by the fan vote.

I'm glad that he finished higher than Lonzo Ball, because that was an absolute disgrace. Manu finishing above him is ridiculous. Personally, I don't think Klay should make the game. He's a talent, certainly, but his game is boring and he is the 4th best player on the Warriors' roster. Westbrook and Paul are locks for the coaches' picks, so Dame would have to be the 5th guard. Butler's going to get consideration because of the T'Wolves' rise this year.

I think the Player Vote is the one that means the most to be honest. Interesting that they have Dame and Booker tied for 4th.

People still don't seem to understand that Dame is playing during a point guard renaissance. He's a very good player, but it's hard to stand out when there's Steph, Westbrook, Paul, Lowry, Irving, Kemba, Wall, etc etc etc. There are so many good point guards right now that it's simply a discussion of who likes who the best. So in the end, what's holding him back is his team's record, but the west is so stacked right now that (short of trading for another superstar) we're going to at best be 4th or 5th.

Same thing with the QB position in the NFL. Manning and Manning, Brady, Big Ben, Brees, Rodgers, Ryan... There's half a dozen guys that would typically be the best of their generation.

I don't think it's a coincidence that we're seeing the PG and QB positions hit unprecedented levels of excellence simultaneously. It's probably an indication of how much more structured the youth developmental systems have become.
