Steve Adams Calls Warriors Monkeys

Those words were created to be racist and insulting... Then ignorant people made them part of our normal vernacular. We're simply taking out words that should never have been put in... There is no loss...

This is an honest question because I really don't know, but take the word colored. I know it's not a term that should be used, but was it truly used initially as a negative term for black people, or was it simply someone saying that guy is colored because the majority of others "weren't"?

Don't act like the cancer joking kid didn't need his ass whooped! :dunno:

He did after he told the second joke when someone asked him to stop. My point was that had he stopped after the first joke, and someone had gone to the office and told on him, he'd be in after school suspension. And that is wrong

It's being bigoted because the automatic assumption that someone who's transgender is going to be touching your child. When:

A. You know fucking well you're not going to have your child in the bathroom by themselves.

B. No one is trying to keep Catholic priests out of the fucking bathroom... No one's trying to keep sex offenders out of the bathroom...

So yeah it's being a fucking bigot by assuming that since someone is transgender that they are a predator when the real predators are the Duggar family kid, Jerry Sandusky, Jared from Subway, and mother fucking Dennis hastert. All nasty looking white males.

Thank you for your opinion on the matter. But, you talk in absolutes, which you can not prove, nor will you ever..

Catholic Priests and (most) sex offenders are males. Them going into the Woman's bathroom is already a no-no. That's apples to oranges compared to what I wrote. Unless of course the sex offender happens to be a man, dressed as a woman going in there? At that point it would be okay w/you ya?

Fuck all that. Those people are sick in the head. Use the bathroom for which you are born for, unless of course there is a single bathroom and you can lock the door. (and that is my opinion).

dviss is of course 100% correct. If a word offends someone we shouldn't use it. The problem is words offend different people, and sometimes for reasons other people don't understand.

My son got in a fight yesterday at school because someone told a cancer joke. It's an amusing joke, but my son said hey, not cool. Don't joke about cancer. The guy, not knowing that my son has dealt with my crap, told him to go fuck himself, and he'd say what he wants. Said something else and boom, fight was on.

A couple of years ago, my son probably wouldn't have raised an eyebrow to the joke, or may have chuckled. When does it stop?

Meh, I disagree. Words are just words. Only given power when someone gets offended. Your son could have simply walked away and ignored it.

Of course I know kids and how that's not going to happen. But as adults it can.

But making a big fucking hoopla about all these potential offending words and putting them on a ban list for Americans? Nope... will not approve that. Be kind to your fellow man, but there is no way I advocate this PC police bullshit going on.

Don't act like the cancer joking kid didn't need his ass whooped! :dunno:

Edit: did your son get in trouble with you? My general rule with my boy is "don't go out starting fights, but if someone tries to assault you, you must defend yourself." I probably wouldn't have giving my son some sort of punishment since the physical violence would have been started by him.

Yes, my son got in trouble because he started the fight. You have to walk away, no matter how much the other guy needs his ass kicked. I've said in a few threads now, that all my kids are in Krav Maga, so they can hurt people. He has to be the bigger person. In this case, he wasn't, and got grounded for it.

Fuck all that. Those people are sick in the head. Use the bathroom for which you are born for. (and that is my opinion).

This statement sounds bigoted.

You know all of "those people" huh?

I'm sorry, I got to be done with this shit I can't be debating this with you today.

When Adams used the word 'Monkeys', it was a descriptive word of the players actions, not of their appearance.

Plenty of kids have been described as 'running around like little monkeys'; no matter what their color.

Steven Adams did not make a racist remark; typically it's the PC crowd/society trying to get all up in arms over the next thing they can be outraged over.

Cool. And I don't give a shit. So what if I am opinionated towards transgenders. I think its disgusting that someone would cut them, or take pills to, transform their body into something they will never be biologically; I also believe that these people, the majority of them are sick mentally.

If that makes me bigoted and you unable to talk to me, big fucking deal. Being bigoted about something doesn't make you an evil person. It just makes me intolerant towards that. So that's how I roll.

Edit: And because I am intolerant of them, it doesn't mean I heckle them, or shame them publicly, or call them out to their face, etc.

It just means I do not support their personal/political agendas. I speak out against it and what they do to others and themselves.

Yeah, exactly. Like I said above. If you don't fall in line, you are labeled.

Yup that's how you roll. Bigoted and intolerant.

Funny how you want government out of our lives but certainly want to use government to govern the lives of others...

Live and let live.

Fuck, in this particular case I'll own being intolerant of transgenders. If that offends you (which, I actually could care less if it does) and makes you intolerant of me, what's that make you? A bigot of a bigot? Hey guess what? People are entitled to their own opinion.

So you obviously advocate for it to be okay for any man to go into any Woman's bathroom, and vice versa, no rules right?

There has to be some rules for certain things. So don't twist my words and talk about how I want Government into every piece of life.

edit: and 46% of Americans agree with me (vs 41% against):

The only so called "victims" I see are the white males on this board upset because Adams, appropriately, apologized for an unintentional slur. And who are "victims" because if they make a bigoted remark someone will say it's a bigoted remark.

No one else is claiming "victimhood".

And drag in transpeople out of the clear blue sky because, no reason. Just because. I guess the party of small government wants to have bathroom police checking everyone's DNA in every public restroom?

Amazing how more and more bigotry worms its way into this thread (pun intended).

Not one person has "advocated for any man to go into any Woman's bathroom and vice versa, no rules". Trans women are NOT men. They are women. Trans men are NOT women. They are men. And you insisting otherwise is bigotry and ignorance, yes. Are you going to check everyone's DNA at the restroom door?

There has not been one single documented case of any transwoman attacking any cisgender girl or woman in any public restroom, or any man "pretending to be transgender" in order to carry out such assaults. Assault is a crime in every state and territory of the USA, no matter where or by whom it is carried out. You do not need special laws targeting transpeople to prevent assault. Those laws are proposed because transgender people are seen as the "weak link" in the LGBTQI community by those who hate gays and are trying to fight back against our civil rights. Transpeople are not like nice respectable middle class gays getting married, not like nice patriotic gays joining the military, not like nice professional gays who are CEOs. It's harder to make an "other" of a nice mom or dad, or well dressed professional, or someone laying his/her life in the line for his/her country, but transgender people are still seen as an easy target for BIGOTS.

You can have you opinion that you hate transpeople, or gays, or Mexican, or Muslims, I don't fucking care. I care when bigotry is made law.

Interesting that you see people of different opinion than you, "Victims".

The only reason he apologized was because he's in America where the PC police and Butt-hurt is real.

And the only reason people like myself are speaking out about it, is not because we are 'victims' but because we disagree with the popular sentiment. Transgenders got brought up as an example of another PC Police/Butt-hurt/social justice warrior shit going on in America.

I am sorry you can't debate about something without getting so emotional.

Trans-Women are not women, they are biologically men.
Trans-Men are not men, they are biologically women.

Meaning... use the bathroom for which you are born (and subsequently your genes identify you) to use.

I don't hate anyone; and implying I hate mexicans/muslims and transgenders is really fucking funny.

Wake up, *I* and many others have different opinions than you social justice warriors do. It doesn't mean we hate people. You Liberals really have a hard time practicing what you preach.

Bingo. There it is. Such a gish gallop amount of bullshit. Now I'm being intolerant of the intolerant so I'm really the intolerant one.... Really?

Newsflash:

Calling out intolerance in an effort to curb it ISN'T an example of it.

This argument is tired..

And hell no I'm not advocating that any man go in any woman's restroom. I'm advocating that people who are transgender can use the bathroom of the gender they identify with.

With regard to any man going into any bathroom, That's what YOU'RE advocating.

Who's going to be policing this shit? Who's going to be going into women's bathrooms and checking people's dicks to see if they're male or female? Is it going to be a man or a woman? Because what you're advocating for is to have people go in bathrooms to check other people's private parts.

Hmmm. My youngest son suffers from a mood disorder, and takes pills for it. Should he not take them because he'll never be what he was supposed to be?

Wrong. What you are born as, is what you should use, that has and always will be my opinion.

Whose policing it? IDK. I don't care. But we differ on our opinions, and that is okay. It's America. The best thing about it, is that majority of Americans agree with me.

I was talking about gene therapy in reference to those pills. In other words, making men grow boobs, and women grow facial hair.

Get it now or not?

Now we know what Steven Adams said was not racist. We do know that calling a black person a monkey by saying we look like them is fucking racist.

/FUCKING THREAD
We all got it before the thread was created and my attempt at showing how silly it is to compare humans to animals was to put it in persepective. One can read George Orwell or watch Sesame Street and see it. Monkey's are crazy athletic...deer are fast...pigs eat a lot...etc.....get it now? It's not racist...it's common...native americans often identified with spirit animals and even named children after them....literature is full of humanized animals...the whole concept that what he said was racist was ridiculous. If anything it was a compliment about how hard they were to guard...I'm the last guy you want to lecture about racism dviss

I don't think he "appropriately" apologized. I don't think he needed to apologize at all. I think that's what has some people upset. We seem to have arrived at a place where you can't say anything without it offending someone.

I really don't get the two cops shooting a monkey having anything to do with this topic

I'm not enough of a scientist to claim I know what causes certain behaviors in certain people. I know I prefer brunettes with big boobs, and my best friend likes tall blondes with great legs. Does that make one of us wrong? People like who they like, and people are born the way they are born. People are born with disorders every day, and instead of looking at a person born as a man wanting to become a woman as the disorder, maybe look at the actual birth as the disorder. I'm probably saying this wrong, but wanting to become what you identify with is not the disorder. Being born a man, when you identify as a woman is the disorder, and all that person is doing is correcting it. Disorder is a poor choice of words, but I think everyone gets what I am trying to say.

I get what you are saying, and just like what your kid takes to correct his mood to 'normal', the identity confused should seek help to fix their confusion. Ultimately, its a problem in their brain, chemical imbalance, broken genes, etc. But going through, uncorrected (or doing things to enable it), is just allowing that disease/disorder to control them. IMO.

The question I've raised before and haven't really seen much of an answer to is: If those who are trans-gender are such because their mind and their body disagree on which gender they were born, why has the person's mind been elevated to a greater significance than the person's body? Are there any other circumstances in which a person's mind can disagree with established reality and reality is subjugated to perception?

It's really simple to just eliminate gender based toilets and have toilets with that lock from the inside...in some establishments with heavy traffic they have women's, men's and family toilets so a father could change his baby girl's diaper if he needed to. I have been in many countries where there's no men's or women's toilet...it's just the toilet...my home doesn't have separate toilets for guests or genders.

My question is if a transgendered man or a woman as you call it, uses the womans bathroom, who fucking knows about it? And why is it an issue? The only way you know is if they make it known they used to be a man. So the whole argument is about transgenders getting attention. Im sure there are plenty of people out there who go about their lives as normal without drawing attention to themselves for the sake of feeling oppressed. Those are the ones i feel sorry for.

I think that's the fundamental difference. It's not a problem in their brain, or a chemical imbalance. And certainly not a disease.

How do we know? Has someone uncovered the biological drivers/indicators for gender identity? There is much we don't know about how the brain works.
