He just said this on NBA Radio. Says Noah has major impact on both sides of the court. In a big game 7, you want him on your team. What do you think? I was surprised. I like Noah though. He also said Chicago can beat Indiana in a playoff series.

Hmm.... I respect Steve Kerr, but that's a fairly silly statement.

Third best is a bit of hyperbole, but I would love to have Noah on our team.

Kerr tends to make some pretty interesting statements after seeing a game where a player just plays out of his mind. Did the same thing when LA went off on a game he was announcing

Who do you guys think IS the 3rd best player? Chris Paul? Love? Griffin? Aldridge?

CP3 and I dont think there is anyone breathing down his neck to pass him at the moment

Noah did have a great game and he is a very good player. But I would be pretty shocked if Chicago beat Indiana in a playoff series.

Noah, 3rd best? No way. He's in the running this year for 3rd best defender, but unless the guy is the BEST defender in the league by a large margin, he needs to score more than 12 ppg to be considered a top 3 player.

Hey, Steve, Jimmy Carter called. He wants his delusional senility back...

Blasphemy.

With his build, sometimes bad feet and the pony tail, it's entirely possible if you're of a certain age to compare Noah to Bill Walton -- perhaps the best passing big man ever. When I asked Noah who he thinks of when he hears the phrase "great passing big man," he listed Divac and Brad Miller. The question now becomes how long and how consistently Noah can have this impact on the game offensively, which the Bulls absolutely need if they're going to score against defenses much better than that of the Knicks. And if Noah does keep rolling along at this clip -- this was his second triple-double in three weeks -- is he really one of the 10 best players in the NBA?

"I think that he's playing phenomenal," Bulls forward Gibson said Sunday following the game. "I think that he could have had a couple more triple-doubles this year if he really wanted to. He's so unselfish as far as his rebounding ability every night. And his scoring ability now this year, I think that he could do that every night.

"He's having a hell of a year. He's pushing us, we're pushing him. We're having fun. We're making each other better. And the sky's the limit for him. He still hasn't even reached his ceiling yet." Increasingly, however, even the sharpest basketball insiders have taken to eliminating big men from certain discussions. The recent Mount Rushmore discussions focused almost exclusively on all-court players and ran away from Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, George Mikan and Shaquille O'Neal. Most award ballots don't even require voters to include centers, which is a dramatic deviation from decades past.

But if centers are part of the discussion, I'd have Kerr's back in making the case that Noah is having at least as big an impact on the game right now as Dwight Howard. The easy thing is to throw Howard's numbers out there because his 19 points, 12.5 rebounds per game and 55 percent shooting trumping has Noah in those departments. However, Noah isn't a liability at the foul line (72.4 percent to Howard's 54.8 percent) and his assist numbers (4.6 per game to Howard's 1.9) are tangible statistical advantages.

(My note: his assist numbers since Jan. 1, 2014, 29 games, is 5.9 per game)

EDIT: 7.4 APG the last 10 games.

I wouldn't say 3rd.

Durant
Lebron
George
CP3
Griffin

(As much as I hate putting Griffin there)... that'd be my top 5. Noah has been playing well, and Chicago has been playing good ball... but beating Indy? Shoot... they haven't even lost 4 games at home yet this year.

If Clips have 2 of five best players and a hall of fame coach, how come they don't have one the NBA's top 6 records? Paul is top 5, sure. Griffin isn't.

Durant

not based on what I'm seeing on my TV right now

LeBron is still #1

All 30 GMs would pick LBJ or Durant to play for them next season.

I seriously had a brain fart. I can't believe I forgot KD!

Paul missed a lot games due to injury. They are red hot right now

Clips were 12-6 without Paul. They are not much better with him: 29-14. They've won 4 games in a row and only won 3 of previous 6. Not exactly red hot.

What you just saw on your TV was a 1 game sample size against CHARLOTTE. Look at the entire season. Statistically, Durant is leading LeBron in scoring by almost 5 ppg. Durant's PER is 30.4. compared to 29.6 for LeBron. But, what clinches it for me is Durant leads the league in WS and WS/48. Durant has 14.5 WS, compared to LeBron's 11.5. Durant's WS/48 is .304 compared to LeBron's .274.

Most importantly, Durant put OKC on his back and absolutely carried that team when Westbrook was out. Durant's team has a better record, while playing in a MUCH better division in a MUCH tougher conference. The Heat have gotten fat feasting on WEAK Eastern Conference competition. If the season ended today, Durant would be my MVP, and it wouldn't be all that close.

Durant went crazy in January, creating a nice bit of separation between himself and the rest of the MVP pack (including James). But LeBron has bounced back with an epic run of his own. Per Elias Sports, he is the first player since Shaquille O'Neal in 2003 to put together a calendar month (a minimum of five games) averaging 30 or more points and eight or more rebounds while shooting better than 57 percent.

Toss in LeBron's seven assists a game this month and only Wilt Chamberlain, in February of 1966, has had a run like that.

"I don't know why everyone was writing [LeBron and the Heat] off before the All-Star break," an Eastern Conference assistant general manager said via text. "KD has been ridiculous this season. He raised his game to that next level.

"But LeBron never went away. He was always right there. And when the chatter heated up about KD taking his spot, moving him out of the way for the MVP and everything, LeBron responded the way you'd expect the best player in the game to respond. It's something you'd expect from Kobe [Bryant] when someone steps on his ego a little bit, but not necessarily LeBron."

Lebron answers by scoring 61 tonight.

Yeah, Durant is great but find any GM who would trade James for any single player. Not happening.

The Heat have a better record than OKC now and they've been without Wade a lot. Also, how is LeBron's PER after tonight?

George 0-9 with 5 turnovers in a bad loss. Doesn't seem like that should happen to a top 3 player.
