Hey!
We have a variation on this theme right now with the latest ballot. Taxing insurance companies when you buy insurance and then limiting the amount the insurance company can recover in premium increases.
What brilliant mind thought up this shit?
The few companies providing health insurance in some counties now will nodoubt become fewer.
The other thing about this laudable goal of providing insurance to Kids, is the narrow scope of who gets to pay!!!
- About 60% of the work force gets insurance from working for self insured employers. So no tax paid from this group.
- About 10% of the people have Military or VA coverage. So no tax paid from this group.
- About 10% of the people have Medicare and don't buy insurance. So no tax paid from this group.
- About 10% of the people don't have or buy insurance. So no tax paid from this group.
- This leaves a real minority to get whacked with the tax. A tax for buying insurance???
