Politics Students march on Washington

I don't believe Trump invented mass shootings but I do believe he's perpetuating them.
Well that's certainly an easy way to explain a complex problem. I feel like a few things are being left out.

Yep, I would hate to write line after line after line detailing stuff that's already been presented in here numerous times.

Geez, are you the bob and weave King or what?

Look at all the other advanced nations which all have more strict gun laws than we do and they don't have anywhere near the gun violence that we do. Why do you suppose that is?

Yeah, it shouldn't be a mystery to anybody why that is, it's not rocket science.

But unfortunately, stricter gun laws at this point would accomplish nothing. No other country has had such a fascination with firearms for as long as the U.S. has. It would never happen but lets say that the U.S. Government wakes up one day and decides to go all the way and ban all firearms. Our entire society is saturated many times over with guns and ammo already. Decades after the ban it would still be easy for a lone psycho to get a gun if they were motivated. And this is even more true if we're not talking about an actual ban, but rather stricter gun laws. It in no way will prevent the thing it's trying to prevent.

So regarding this walk out... It's completely useless. The Titanic has already sunk and it did so a long time ago. Looking for survivors now might make you feel good but I think we all know how many you'd find. Thousands of kids wandering around the streets for a day isn't going to accomplish anything other than make thousands of kids feel like they're accomplishing something.

I don't like it but that's the reality.

Why don't you elaborate your point instead of getting outraged and tiptoeing around an explanation? You clearly "suggested blame" when you claimed Trump was bought by the NRA and was a liar. Why else would you say that in regards to gun legislation of you weren't assigning blame?

That's called a metaphor. Taking it literally makes you look silly, not me.

my post was called sarcasm and sarcasm is like 4 of a kind. It out ranks your full house. :bgrin:

Next time you watch a western just imagine all the townspeople having no guns when the armed posse rolls through.
leave guns at the bar.jpg in the old west most of the rifles were locked up in the sheriff's office and he'd deputize citizens if needed..some old west towns made you leave guns at the town entrance...

Criminal charges could be ahead for some Antioch High School students after a student demonstration became disruptive.

Students at Antioch High School participated in Wednesday’s national walkout day against gun violence. During the demonstration that started out peacefully, some students got out of control, according to school administrators.

There were about 40 or 50 kids that were running and started up everything while others were just standing there like what’s going on, not really knowing what to do,” said Fares Ali, a senior at Antioch High School.

While some students began reading the names of the 17 people killed in the Parkland, Florida shooting, some students began screaming, tossing water and even jumped on a Metro police car.

They also ripped down the American flag and began stomping on it sparking an investigation involving school administrators and metro police. The investigation could lead to school disciplinary action or criminal charges. Tony Majors, executive director of support services said they are looking at vandalism, extreme disruption, reckless endangerment and more.

Tucker: Left-Wing Politicians Protest Guns ... While Being Protected by Armed Bodyguards

Many left-wing lawmakers -- including New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) -- took part in Wednesday's coordinated demonstrations by students to protest gun violence in the wake of last month's Florida high school shooting.

On his program Thursday night, Tucker Carlson pointed out that Cuomo and Sanders didn't attend the walkouts alone.

"They were escorted by bodyguards, paid for by you, who went to protect them," Carlson said. "Those bodyguards were armed, of course, with guns."

He noted that Cuomo's guards were even allowed to carry more than 10 rounds in their magazines.

"If you wanted to protect yourself in the same way in New York, you'd be thrown in prison," Carlson said. "And some people, of course, already have been."

He said in a republic, all citizens are supposed to be held to the same standards, whether they hold office or not.

"You can't surround yourself with an armed retinue and then tell the rest of us we don't have a right to defend ourselves," Carlson said. "That's worse than flying your private jet to accept a climate change award."

Well, that's just wrong. I don't think I'd charge them with a crime, though. I'd opt for discussing the love for the flag that most of us have and how it's disrespectful of our feelings to take the flag down like that. Besides, it's what the flag stands for that gives them their right to march on Washington D.C.

This isn't totally fair, because I guess she did say she would "try to get some private money", but...

You must be really pissed at the Trump administration for their lavish wasting of tens of millions and probably a lot more.

I'm not happy whenever the gov't goes over budget and pays for stupid things, but that's not this case.

This would be as if we had been in a government shutdown for years, people freezing and starving in their homes b/c no one is getting Medicare, Social Security or a government paycheck, and the President takes our tax dollars instead and, I don't know, makes a cash payment to terrorist organizations in other countries. I would still be not happy with the non-functionality of gov't, but I would also have a pretty severe "WTF?" response.
