Not that far of a leap, but a leap all the same. We assume we know what the kids' motives were, and we don't. That's arrogant.
Arrogant? To evaluate the facts and draw the inference that he was doing it to cause trouble?
When someone puts an item in their pocket and walks out of a store without paying, we don't know why but I think it is safe to give the opinion that he is stealing without being called arrogant.
In this case, it was cinco de mayo and it was a school with a high population of hispanics (again not being arrogant but believing so because of the area) . . . one can easily make an opinion that he is doing it to antagonize the school (maybe's it's wrong) but it's not like pulling it out of thin air.
Our differences on this issue seem pretty clear going through the thread (not saying either is right) . . . I fall strongly on the side to trust school administration and let them govern their campus. You are more of watching and policing the school conduct and making sure they are acting appropriately (trying to give your side without a negative twist).
I think the view of policing the schools add politcs to their decision making as they are always worries how their decisions will be interpreted by the media . . . but I get that people feel schools need to be called out on stuff like this. My first post was understanding this decision by the school would upset people. A much easier way out was for the AP to take no action. I wonder if he knew it would turn to this if he would do it again?
