Summer "BIG Swing" trade

the picks would get Portland into the discussion more than the expiring contracts would

on one hand you're saying you wouldn't trade Simons and Ayton for 2nd round picks; above you're saying, or at least strongly implying, that the Blazers don't want to keep them?

I guess it depends on the other team's needs...picks, ending contract, or both.

Yes I would not trade them for 2nd round picks, not when there is at least a slight chance they could bring in more by the deadline. Hell, we are not even happy with getting the 9th pick in what is supposed to be a good draft, why would I be happy getting a 2nd round pick?

I have no idea who the Blazers want to keep. But I would certainly trade anyone in a heartbeat if it made the team better. What will make the team "better" is of course, where we all differ with our opinions.

Big swing?

Id go after a guy like Scotty Barnes still under a rookie contact. Use a combination of youth, picks & vets.

I wanted him last summer. But now that we have Deni, I don't think they are a good fit together. He has had 4 years to improve his 3-point shooting and still has not. His contract is just too high (starting next year)

c'mon man...in the last 2 trade deadlines the total list of Cronin's moves has been the less favorable of two top-55 protected 2027 second round picks for Banton. I'm not sure banking on him making any major move next Feb. is pipedream or delusion

Good defender and scorer.

Good defender and scorer.

He is. But not good enough to warrant 40+ million a year. Don't get me wrong i I like his game, but I am pretty sure that Sharpe is who they would require
in return. And I think Sharpe is a better fit next to Camara and Deni.

OK fine, you convinced me. Two 2nd round picks make a lot more sense.

We could trade both Simons and Grant to ORL

They're not going to let Banchero go

They will get Grant though to replace him lol

I think for that trade(sending both Grant and Simons there) to make sense we would need Banchero back in that deal.

Banchero
Black
Isaac
Bitadze

For

Grant
Simons
Murray
Future 1st
Future 2nd

I suppose getting

Black
Carter Jr
Isaac
Bitadze

For

Grant
Simons
Murray
2nd

Works

With Scoot and Clingan off the Bench

Not bad

Yeah, that's what'd I want to get back in that trade. We would be good.

how many here would include sharpe in a trade for booker? we have the expirings, young talent and picks to make make a serious offer.

If you’re going to make a trade for Booker I think you would have to include Sharpe. They play the same position. The question is do you think sharp can play at the same level as Booker?

That was my first thought as well. But with Deni in the lineup, I think we can get away with starting two SGs.
And no, based on age, I would not include Sharpe for Booker.

Zion seems like the most likely to be moved....just not sure where and for what.

Depending on how they do, I could see HOU moving Smith for more veteran pieces. There has been a tiny bit of chatter about Grant going there and Ime loves RW3.
Think Grant is a 'backup' plan if Rockets miss out on Durant?

Still TBD.
I think Sharpe will be better

3rd season, at 21:

pretty important context is that Booker was the clear #1 option on a 21 win team. Sharpe was fairly close in efficiency and might have been able to match Booker's production if he'd got the shots and usage

Booker has had 4 seasons of averaging at least 6.5 assists, including averaging 7 over the last 2 seasons with a 2.5 assist/turnover ratio. I'm not sure Sharpe will ever have play-making at that level in his toolbox

This team desperately needs scoring. So trading Sharpe for Daniels doesn’t make sense.

Deni is a really good player but a true big swing is for a star. Someone who can elevate the team to contender status. Deni might be that guy. It’s hard to say yet. I actually don’t think there’s a lot of Deni type trades out there. Joe keeps making these sneaky trades for guys like Deni and Tou and those are great but a big swing would be Zion. It could work out or it could blow up in our face.

If we trade Ayton, Murray and a 29 conditional 1st pick - I don’t believe this sort of trade for Zion would “blow up in our face” - just don’t give up any more than this

You guys are just tripling and quadrupling down on the sarcasm, right? Like, you can't actually think Banchero is attainable...

Likely not. But, it would be a hell of a trade if Cronin pulled it off.

A big swing trade still makes no sense right now. Trades like Anthony + Black for Ant make sense in re-assigning roles on this team and seeing if we can take it to the next level, which I would be in favor of.

But I am against trading any 1sts for anyone right now without knowing what we have in this team for a full season.

I wouldn't trade for a 'Star' player who knows he is coming as #1 - this could mess up team chemistry and change the trajectory IMO...
I suggest trading for a good veteran PG like Tyus Jones a-la chris paul to continue Scoots support and growth..
And if any 3rd years with potential not tapped yet at the 2 or 4 is good as well.

depends on the target I suppose, and the price

but right now I'm getting 2015-16 deju vu vibes. The Blazers won 44 games that season after the Dame-Aldridge team disintegrated. I think there pre-season over/under was 27 wins. Instead, they made it to the playoffs, then beat an injury-decimated Clippers team in the 1st round. It was a major 'Feel Good' vibe. Olshey and the rest of the organization completely misinterpreted the context of that season, and it allowed Olshey to go on that idiotic 340M spending spree for CJ-Crabbe-Turner-Harkless-Meyers-Ezeli. And that hamstrung the franchise for years

same kind of feel-good vibes right now; extending Cronin & Billups. Constant citing of a 15 win improvement over a deliberately tanked previous season. I'm just hoping the Blazers don't repeat making a major miscalculation based upon ignored context. Blazers have depth and a relatively strong supporting cast. But they need a batman; going all in on another Robin would be a mistake

Any ideas on who/ batman may be available for some of our assets?
