Summer "BIG Swing" trade

Would you like to see the Blazers go after Darius Garland, Trae Young or maybe even De’Aaron Fox if the Spurs draft Dylan Harper?
No... those three guards, Ant, CJ are all kind of similar impact where in the right role they can lead an offense but it's more about what teammates they have. Id focus on building a roster with those teammates first. One day if we get more pieces or a star - we can then easily add a guard like that - if it's still even needed.

Wrote this in the other thread, too :
With Sixers looking to trade 3rd pick to get rid of George, I'd send them Ayton as an Embiid insurance policy and Grant and take George and 3rd pick. Then send Simons to Magic for 16 and filler.
Draft Bailey, Demin and a good C prospect at 16.
We'd be set for years.

Alternatively, an insane one - pack #3, 11, 16, George and 28 swap back to Bucks for Giannis.

Scoot, Shae, Camara, Deni, Giannis, Clingan, Walker, Murray plus bench fillers. That is a contender right there

The Sixers aren't using the 3rd pick to salary dump. They're using George as salary filler and trying to get another star.

Not with Embiid and Maxey still on books. Second apron is brutal. They need to add depth and Embiid insurance policy. Grant gets you George numbers at lower price and Ayton can play major minutes so you can save Embiid for playoffs.

Sixers want to use a player they overpaid and who is injury prone and might be a season or 2 from hitting a wall like Grant and become just average at best to get a superstar in return. As much as I get on Cronin for being average at best I think Morey has lost his fucking mind and is the definition of delusional - period.

That's what I'm saying - we can afford to take on George, and if we go young his contract will come off the books in time for extensions.

No one is giving them a superstar for George + 3rd.

NO NO NO ... NO NO NO

NO NO NO .. NO NO NO

to PG

We have enough dead weight ( bad contracts ) on this roster as it is let's not add to it.

I just looked at the contract and it's worse then I thought

FUCK NO

25-6 -- 51.6
26-7 -- 54.1
27-8 -- 56.5 -- Player option

Well, then we go for the insane option - ship him to Bucks with all the picks and get Giannis.
There are all just fun fan musings. The important part is - we really have a lot of good pieces to trade. Add to that how weird(cough, cough) draft was with none of the heavy tankers getting rewarded and this offseason will be a crazy one for the league.

Not realistic.
76ers don't do that deal. Neither would the Bucks.

I mean, that pick would be post Jokic. With that and 2030 Bucks swap, we would have a good chance to retool of this generation does not pan out. MPJ is a mental midget, though and gets lost on defense. Nor a Billups guy.

I'd do that deal for sure if the 2031 pick was unprotected or top4 protected. If it was protected more than that I'm not sure - would depend on how good or bad MPJ physicals were. Really the main reason to do that deal is the pick.

My first thought was that new ownership might not want the MPJ salary. Ant deal is expiring - but MPJ deal is only one additional season so maybe ownership wouldn't mind that much. Scoot and others wouldn't be on new contracts yet. We still have Ayton expiring deal.

Not sure how Grant + MPJ could coexist here well though. That's a ton of salary and entitled veteran sentiment to try and have at the forward spot off the bench. If Grant was traded in a separate deal I'd be more likely to pull the trigger on an MPJ deal.

Clingan, Toumani, Deni — the keepers.
Any media, League, X, forums with trade proposals and chatter and conversations can leave them out.

1. Getting a superstar who is youngish would cost too much and leave too little remaining post-trade.
2. Any big swing trade for a Zion or other “damaged” star means an equally large risk and limiting draft capital going out.

I’m up for trades to get Deni’s or Toumani’s, but I’m about OUT on the mega-meal, all star trades.

3. Portland bench players need to get better to have a DEEP bench — need a healthy, reliable, back-up center / need better versions of Walker, Murray, Rupert (great if it’s them but if not …) / need incoming players in “lost trades” of veteran EC’s to be good 6-9th men — the kind of back-ups you could see on OKC, Indiana, Boston — the gold standard of bench guys.

Yes, Portland needs a Batman and Robin. If I squint hard enough, could that be Deni and Toumani?

If we trade Camara to the Lakers for Dalton and a late 1st I’ll be done for a long time. He’s probably our best all around player. You need guys like him to win. Trading him would just reinforce the idea that we are basically a G League team for the big markets to take from when they need something.

Not a big swing but a move that could payoff bigly:

Noah Clowney

If other options fail - trading up/Zion - I’m calling Brooklyn about Clowney
