Agreed. Would be dumb. He's gonna be an all-star in three years max
hard to be an all-star when you're a backup

LaMelo is on a supermax contract and has been injured more than half the games recent years. Concerning that his play does nothing to help a team win. I wouldn't want him at any price.Like you said, his roster has been iffy, at best. So doesn't concern me a ton. Deni was never part of a winner, but we can see he easily has the tools to impact winning.
Again, all depends on the price,of course
Zion has played at a way higher level than Ball when healthy. Their totally incomparable. Zion team had close to the best record in the league at points in multiple seasons.I think my concern is health.... it seems like all of those guys have real injury issues. At least Scoot and Shae aren't making max money right now, and we might be able to get them on significantly better contracts than what Ball is getting.
But Ball is dice roll that could pay off. He's an All-Star. He's really good when he's healthy. Same issue as Zion.
Does Memphis now have the assets to make a godfather offer?

The only reason why I could see us trading Deni is if he has made it clear he won’t re-sign here. Or if we are concerned that we can’t extend him and have to take the risk of letting him hit free agency in a couple years.Isn’t Deni pretty much our best player? Trading him for draft picks and some bench players would send a pretty bad message considering we are supposed to be trying to win this season.

we can’t extend him even if he wants to extend with us. One of the downsides of his cheap contract.
Isn’t he locked up for the next 3 seasons though? I’d like to be winning during that time.Yeah, that's where I was going with it.... if we're afraid that he'll leave for nothing because we can't really extend him so we have to let him hit free agency.

I agree, but the organization isn't too interested in moving Ant. I hope they do.We're nowhere yet with Scoot and Shae. It's silly to see some posters including them in trades. I highly doubt the organization is too interested in giving them up before they've gotten a full opportunity.
Move Ant and let Scoot/Shae run the backcourt.
Ja is toxic. No thanks.Sharpe and Grant plus #11 pick for Ja and filler
It’s Portland! How much trouble will he be able to get into? Maybe he grows up and leads us far into the playoffs? Remember, it is super difficult for Portland to land a free agent all star player. Only via trade. Gotta swing for the fences as per this threadJa is toxic. No thanks.
Seems to of gotten in plenty of trouble in Memphis and we do have the strip clubs he covets. It’s Portland! How much trouble will he be able to get into? Good idea.If/when we get cap space next summer or after, we can re-negotiate and extend Deni the same way Utah did Lauri
