Summer League Grades (2 Viewers)

I've had the "idiotic post/stupid thread/dumb opinion" thing thrown at me many, many times here. I guess I'm just immune to it being a major insult, because it is so commonplace in what I see here all the time.

I do find the grade given to Babbitt as useless, though, considering the grades given to every other player. A person putting their opinion out for the masses should expect to be challenged by those who strongly disagree with a part, or all, of it. Besides, WizMentor had just gone on and on in another thread about Babbitt's uselessness, and then this thread popped up, repeating the same things, but in a new thread.

If I need to treat Wizard Mentor differently than others here, I guess I can try to do so. Of course, that would be me playing a character.

I don't disagree. But considering the grades that the media guys put out, and the grades that other posters put out, most seem in line with the OP's perspective, with your opinion being the outlier. Usually, when the masses agree, it's the responsibility of those in the minority to have to work harder to support their POV.

Nobody says you can't challenege opinions - we all do that here. That's the point of this message board. But their also no need to be arrogant or pompous about it. I know you don't always feel you get the props or respect you deserve, but there's also no need to jump right into a post and disrespect someone.

"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

You have kids - I'd hope you'd understand one of the biggest golden rules.

I have to say, I'm pretty much the same in the real world as I am in the cyberworld.

I would wager that a good portion of San Francisco would love that house :devilwink:

That'd be hillarious. Suddenly, crandc would become very popular with the men.

And yet, they'd have no interest in her, and she'd have no interest in them.

What percentage of the population of San Fran is gay men? I'd wager Playboy sales aren't especially high there

Very well said, but I'm sure it'll fall on deaf ears. I like PapaG fine, but he and a few other posters on here go psycho every once in a while. Like a binge drinker, it could last from a few days to several months. He's gotten his feelings hurt, and has no problem hurting the feelings of others. On this particular binge, he's pissed that people think Babbitt sucks, and he's not unreasonably using stats to back up his argument. I would probably agree with him if I didn't see with my own eyes during the summer league games what a drastic effect his lack of defense has on the whole game.

Apparently, I offended him by starting this thread, and he let me know it right away.

Somehow he doesn't see that he has treated me differently. MM started 2 or 3 virtually identical threads, and he didn't go in there and say they were stupid and insult him and take over the thread. Whatever. I've put him on ignore, and I'll be happy to move him off ignore in a couple of weeks when he's calmed down a bit. Of course, he'll read this and that may strength his resolve remain in his current state.

Now THAT is funny! Too bad I missed that hilarity.

Yeah, the Rubechat guys were a blast. Until they had to leave with their tails between their legs. Never seen so many trolls jump ship at once and so quickly. Not sure the return ship could support the weight of all that bullshit - they may have drowned upon their return voyage.

In fact, several of us did ask where PapaG was during that chaos.

Chicago working. I'm there again next week.

Trolls, if you're planning another ambush, please wait until the week of 8/6/12!

Personally, I can't wait until PapaG's daughters are old enough to read how their dad behaves. They'll be embarrassed, and rightly so. That should be the biggest reason he is concerned about his real name being put on the board.

Ouch! Deeeeeeeeeeeeep!!!!

I'm as opinionated and full of energy in real life as I am here. I just am much more blunt here, because I don't do nuance well in my writing. So, I'm not playing any character, but I have little use for using tact with those that I don't think deserve it, and who obviously don't respect me. Since those people like to make it about me, I'll go right back at them, because it's not in my nature to sit back and be piled upon while cowering in the corner.

You tell more personal stories than anyone in here and shit all over the board with your opinion. But, everybody else wants to make it about you?

mmmkayyyyy.

Mediocre Man, you are not far wrong. I have an AIDS poster of a handsome young man in an open raincoat with the caption "good boys always wear their rubbers". The Rip City cover of Chris Dudley in swimsuit, which he kindly signed.

And my cats.

Ahh, that's right. How was Giordano's?

Fantastic. I mean, just epic. Split a Chicago-style with my brother and a pitcher of Sam Adams on Saturday night. Delicious. Ended up at the hotel bar at the Hyatt simply because we were out until 4am at Miller's Pub on Thursday, worked Friday, and then were out at Ditka's and then the Purple Pig until 3am Friday night before heading to Wrigley Saturday morning.

Oh, look who still wants to be involved in the drama. How cute.

Shouldn't you post something about my 'vegan restaurant' now?

Can't bring myself to visit Ditka's again. Had to go once because it's Ditka. Can't ever go again (cuz it's Ditka).

The Hyatt is actually pretty nice there. I've hung out in the bar a few times, since that's one of the usual places we stay. Hoping my sister-in-law gets married soon, so we can get another visit to Chicago in. Now that all of the other friends and family have left Chicago, we have little reason to go back (except for fun, but we usually end up going wherever our family/friends live, so I can't think of any other reason we'll end up in Chicago any time soon).

Why aren't there any legitimate Chicago-style pizza joints in the Portland area? Or, is there one, and I just don't know about it?

Hell, even Seattle has Delfino's near the UW campus, and it's just amazing.

I've yet to find pizza that I like as much as papa murphy's.

We had Murphy's last night. The thin crust.

Have a Giordano's butter-crust deep dish with the sauce on top next time you're in Chicago. I think you'll be swayed.

And my axe.

I think I"ve seen this before somewhere... [video=youtube;pxPGzj2L3n0]

I've only been to Chicago once, and it was just a short trip. Didn't really get to get out and explore the city. Maybe one day :sigh:

I haven't been back since I as a kid but this place seemed like deep dish pizza to me at the time.

WTF? This isn't even funny, but please tell me you're joking?

I am a big fan of Pizzacato, Ken's, Apizzascholls (they guy is the pizza nazi, but there's no arguing with the pizza), etc. Just found a new joint I really like, but can't remember the name (it's new, and there's a related pizza joint up in Seattle under the same name, too).
