Superbowl XLVII: GAME DAY!!

I don't know if its been discussed in here or not because I haven't read the whole thread. But, as soon as I saw that intentional safety I was thinking about how many people got screwed over by taking the 4 or 4.5 spread when the lead when from 5 to 3. Ouch. That's a tough one to swallow.

It was SF that was favored by 4 - 4.5.

How is that wishful thinking? I'm not a Seahawks fan and I agree with him.

I think the Niners' offense is superior in virtually every way, except for maybe running back.

I think Kap is a better QB (not by a ton, but I still think he's better)

I think our line is better.

I think we have better receivers.

Lynch is probably a better RB than Gore at this stage in his career.

Honestly, I think it's the Niner defense that needs upgrading. The secondary has been awful.

I think Kaep is a little better than Russell Wilson right now, but it's close. Kaep definitely has the higher ceiling.

Crabtree is good, but who knows who will be next to him next year and AJ Jenkins hasn't done anything

Lynch is one of the best RB's in the league right now and I expect Gore to regress (said that last year too, though) and who knows what you get out of James or Hunter.

Vernon Davis is awesome, Zach Miller is good though.

The Niners really need some cornerbacks. The Seahawks have three good ones. Carlos Rogers really fell off this year. If I were the Niners I'd throw a 2nd, 4th and Smith offer to the Jets for Revis. Who cares if you can only keep him one year. The Niners had Deion for one year too and they won the Super Bowl with him.

Bottom line is both teams are built with tons of talent and some great defenses (one with better linebackers, the other with a better secondary) and I'd expect a hell of a battle for the NFC West with Seattle and San Francisco.

If I'm Denver or Houston I have to feel good because the NFC has so many teams like the Seahawks, Niners, Falcons, Packers etc that will have the chance to beat each other up next year in the playoffs.

I'm pretty sure a younger Frank Gore would have scored on that run at the end of the game, rather than be tackled on the ten yard line or wherever he was.

I think Russell Wilson is much better than Kaepernick. His QBR would indicate so.

LOL, of course you do.

Kap is five inches taller, he's every bit as good a runner, and he can throw a 97 mph fastball (which means has has amazing arm strength).

Why exactly do you think Wilson is a "much better" player than Kap?

Kaep has the physical tools to be much better than Wilson.

Wilson has the "it" factor, is incredibly smart and is one of the hardest workers in the game right now.

Wilson definitely isn't "much better," but who knows, the kid has been an underdog his entire career.

I'd put my money on Kaep having the better career, but Wilson does continue to defy odds.

I'm definitely not taking anything away from Wilson. I think he's a tremendous player, it was just tlong's "much better" crap that made me laugh. My biggest fear about Kap is injuries. He's so tall and thin. Running QBs always seem to suffer a major injury at some point. I love that he can move, but I think he needs to use his arm and his brain more than his legs.

Definitely agree. Kaep will get flattened by a hit during a game in career when he tries to run. After that happens he will change things up. If he continues to work on being a pocket passer while still having his athleticism and speed, Kaep could be the best qb in the league.

The dude has an insane arm. I read one story that he broke one of Randy Moss' fingers with a simple toss during a game. 97 mph fastball.... just crazy.

tlong probably meant in games that they have actually played against eachother.

yesterday was worse, tomorrow will be better

pretty devastated though

You know what, I was in a much worse mood when they were getting blown out. After they mounted the comeback, which obviously fell short, I was okay with it. I was disappointed that they lost, and I had hoped for better, but they proved that they belonged there. Damn near pulled off the biggest comeback in NFL SB history. We've got a good shot at getting back there.

Have you looked at our free agent list?

yeah, nobody irreplaceable

next year looks good, but we need eddie d to cash out a couple big free agents, like the good old days

and yeah, i was morose after the 2nd half kickoff, and when they came back it was amazing, but to get so close....its tough

That's kind of how I felt when the Seahawks played the Falcolns. At least seeing your team fight back and nearly win gives you some admiration for your team.

I thought Gore was going to score on that long run at the end. I think I was mostly disappointed with the final play calling on the last four plays.

LMJ's fumble cost SF the game? What, because the Ravens then drove 75 yards on the 'vaunted' 49er defense to make it 14-3 after that turnover?

What cost the 49ers the game was dumb coaching on 1st and Goal late in the game, where neither Gore nor Kaepernick even attempted to run the ball into the end zone by design, and not a single pass was set up to go into the end zone.

Exactly. Obviously LMJ's fumble didn't help the cause, but there were many mistakes that could be pointed to, and like you said, that final possession was just horrible. Not one well designed play. It's like JH was too worried about giving the ball back with too much time on the clock, rather than being worried about scoring the damn ball.

Wilson IS better than Kaepernick. No question about it.

I know who I would prefer and it is RW. Better deep ball and smart runner. His work ethic can not be questioned. He has proven that his height is not an obstacle.

Has anyone seen anything as to why Cary Williams wasn't ejected? Just curious. I mean, it's actually a rule that any intentional contact with the ref in that nature is an automatic ejection (at least according to a few articles I've read). So I'm just curious if anything further has come out about it.
