Do you think Dame is gone? Do you think we should trade him even if he doesn't demand a trade, just out of mercy (and because the writing is on the wall about a Blazer team led by him)?

Related: how bad would our record have to be after 41 games for either of these questions to come up by this season's trade deadline?

(Here's hoping we explode out of the gate and I will look back on these questions and chuckle affectionately.)

I imagine if we miss the playoffs, he will want out. I don't think we trade him if he doesn't ask out, personally. And if we miss the playoffs, Olshey is most definitely fired.

I “hope” that if we start the first 25 games under 500, top brass replaces Olshey. Why wait for the end of the year? By doing this, we have a chance of keeping Dame. If management is too chicken to cut Olshey loose - Dame SHOULD ask to be traded.

I don't think Dame will ever leave while under contract....not saying Neil won't blow it up and trade him but as long as he's the franchise leader...he won't be if he leaves unless he goes to a worse team than the Blazers...I think we'll make the playoffs but early this season we'll have ups and downs figuring this system out

Depends on the reason we miss the playoffs.

Injuries?

Zombie attack?

Also it depends on Dame's relationship with our new GM.

Miss the playoffs? This isn't a realistic scenario in any universe. It supposes that at least 8 other teams in the west also go 82-0.

Ridiculous.

Dame is likely gone next season one way or the other. If we dont make the playoffs the chances raise exponentially.

If Dame is gone before CJ that's gonna be sad

what will be sadder is if Olshey is the one who trades Dame...

...because you just know he'll want to build a team featuring CJ. That means MeJ will lead the league in shots, usage, and dribbling. If Dame is traded, RoCo and Nurkic will sign elsewhere (and Nance would likely do the same the summer after). What should happen is that CJ and Powell and any player over 24 should be traded soon after Dame for as many 1sts as the Blazers can grab. Go full rebuild, and get some high lottery picks too. Watching the Blazers featuring MeJ would be Olshey's wet dream but be must-not-watch TV for anybody else

No question. This is the only logical result of a Dame trade.

Nahhh, remember last season. Injuries don't effect/affect us. We should still be winning we were told.

I just don't see how us missing the playoffs is possible (barring horrific injuries, which, well, Blazers).
I love this look on things, but do you mind me asking what you saw in the preseason that makes you so sure?

Missing the playoffs, getting a play in spot, or losing in the first round all have the same consequences:

1. Neil out.
2. Dame most likely gone.

I wouldn't make any opinion solely off 4 exhibition games.
Actually this is simply amazing that you love basketball enough to post here for years and you aren't taking ANYTHING from this preseason. Good or Bad!

Should the coaches? What if we were undefeated and winning by 20 points?
Sure, the coaches should. Am I a coach. Preseason wins and loses mean nothing, same as the scoring differential. I'm excited for opening night, as I would be if they were undefeated.

Didn't even watch the full games since dishnetwork canceled RSN. Caught the highlights afterward. Noticed some things both good and bad, but am not going to base an opinion on them.

I love Dame but you guys worry too much about how he "feels". If we miss the playoffs without any major injuries, it just might be because Dame did not play well enough to justify his soon-to-be 45 million per year contract. I would prefer he retires as a Blazer, but sure if he is unhappy in that scenario then yeah trade him. But not just because we feel bad for him.

I haven't posted my prediction yet. Was actually thinking about not doing it this year so I can just fling shit from the sidelines. Still have a couple days though so who knows.

I think you should sit this one out if you haven't watched the games FAMS.

I'd tell you what I think should do, but I've had posts deleted and edited for that recently. I watched the games afterwards, just not live. Please tell me more about how I should be a fan though.

Oh I'm not telling you how to be a fan. Sorry if I upset you. You said you hadn't formed any opinions because you hadn't watch the games. You can DM me what you think I should do though if you want.

If we're headed in a direction that looks like we'll be in the play-ins (meaning we're seventh through tenth place in the West) by mid-season we need to make big changes to the roster before the deadline because the roster wouldn't be functioning around Dame in Chauncey's system. If we don't do that and we miss the playoffs either by being eleventh or lower or losing in the play-in tourney then Dame will ask out, Olshey should be fired and we should bring in a new GM to blow up the roster.

Blowing up the roster could look like moving CJ and Dame for the best players possible that actually complement each other and try to use the players we get for them with Norm and Larry to have a contending team next season. More likely it means a youth movement in which we target teams with draft picks, young players and cap room. We trade Dame for a haul, we get what we can for CJ, Norm and Larry (I would let RoCo and Nurk walk). Then we use the picks, young players and cap space to build a new very young squad with.

Not upset at all. I said I wasn't forming an opinion on what I saw in the preseason. Didn't watch the FULL game live, but you can assume whatever you want. I think you can read in between the lines.
