Why is comparing Swanigan to Love 'ridiculous'?
Swanigan:
6'9", 247 lbs
standing reach: 9'0"
wingspan: 7'3"
Per40: (So): 22.7 ppg, 15.3 rpg, 3.7 apg, 1.0 bpg, 44.7% 3pt
Love:
6'10", 255 lbs
standing reach: 8'10"
wingspan: 6'11"
Per40: (Fr) 23.6 ppg, 14.4 rpg, 2.6 apg, 1.9 bpg, 35.4% 3pt
I'd say there are quite a few comparable stats there.
Swanigan was the #2 rebounder in the country in one of the toughest conferences. Virtually all of his stats improved from his freshman to sophomore year.
Swanigan may turn out to be a bust, but at the #26 pick, I think we got a steal. I see a lot more similarities (and weaknesses) in his game comparing him to Kevin Love and Zach Randolph, than I do to comparing him to busts like Ike Diogu or Sean May. This guy has some elite talent. And his work ethic to this point tells me he'll work his tail off to improve on his deficiencies.
