So I'm taking Mrs. T (steph) on a 2nd honeymoon. We were to go on a cruise with her mom, step dad and a gang of their friend (token young couple), but those midage heat flashes kicked in and the idea of the warm Caribbean just freaked her out. I half expect to come home and find a walk in freezer every night poor girl. So I switched gears and booked a trip to Switzerland.

The itinery thus far looks like this:

Day 1 travel day
Day 2 am arrive in Zurich...spend the day in Zurich/visit Schloss Lichtenstein
Day 3 drive to Zermatt, stay in a boutique hotel at the base of the Matterhorn, 2 nights
Day 4 anniversary in Zurich
Day 5 check out of Zurich, travel to Grindelwald check in to chalet lodge facing the River, 2 nights
Day 6 excursions to Interlaken
Day 7 check out, travel back to Zurich, excursion to Lucerne. Last night in Zurich
Day 8 travel home

In Zermatt I found a place called Hotel Firefly, in Grindelwald, the Aspen Alpine Lifestyle Hotel. The names are odd, but the ratings and reviews all looked solid. No skiing plans yet, but they do allow airboarding in Zermatt - some crazy videos out there. And Grindelwald has Europe's Longest sledging run at 13km and night toboggan runs, looks like a blast.

So far the missus has no idea except the destination. I'm open to questions, comments and suggestions. Yes Ron, I'll get you some chocolate Cheetos...pralined for the crunch.

Sounds wonderful Tom but please whatever you do don't joke around & tell them your Jewish.

...I'm envious, Tote...and please make sure those chocolate chee-tos are dark/semi sweet. :blazerwookie:

Right? I do empathize with the Swiss to some extent, they were completely surrounded and didn't have a lot of choices. I know my grandfather met a lot greatful swiss girls on his trip north. Yeah I know the history books say the axis and Allies avoided Switzerland, but I take my grandfathers unit history book as primary source.

A Grand-Father's History Book, is always more telling, than the stuff Public History Books leave out....

Have a blast and don't go beyond 90mph, on the Downhill....

I don't blame the Mrs Tote, for not wanting the Caribbean Cruise. Kim hounded me for years to take a Cruise, and I had heard plenty of great stories of Cruises from work peers, but never felt comfy about being on the high Sea's. A few years later, and WTF- happens with one cruise ship after another, either sinking, or having other Uber Probs.....

I am jealous! Have a wonderful and safe trip........and
oh, count me in for those dark chocolate covered
crunchy cheetos!...........
(that's a mouthful).
