Taj Gibson?

And Brown played well for them in the playoffs. He hit a huge shot vs ClevelAnd in game 7.

Both would be great. Gibson AND Chandler. Remember when Celtics won in 2008? They signed and traded for as many good players they could get. PJ Brown, Sam Cassell down the stretch.

I rather us keep Freeland/Leonard as the backups as they are our future one way or another.

We just need one guy who can slash/shoot and stay relatively healthy.

I just clicked in Denny's link and that site is like a poor man's Bleacher Report.

Not a credible source.
Pippen ain't easy is as much as BE is.

Taj is good, but he's not on Wes or Goran's level.
nobody outside your starting 5 is on Taj's level. He's a 6th man of the year candidate on the Bulls, and a likely starter on many other teams.

I seriously doubt they take two end of the bench players for him.

The message sent is that the best players get the minutes. Our whole bench sucks. Taj Gibson is better than all of them. Do want to win a championship or be sensitive to Freeland and MyLe's feelings?
I agree. If you are comparing all our bench players, Taj is better than all of them, including Kaman. That part is a no brainer. The problem with the Taj situation is I think it will require possibly one of our starters, or a combination of Freeland, CJ and Leonard.

Well, what's worse, you get taj and he gives us 8/6 in 22 minutes of run while killing all momentum and growth of Freeland and Leonard or you get the same production without giving anybody up and basically giving up on some young talented pieces? I can see us Giving up on a cj or a Crabbe because guards are a dime a dozen, 7 footers with skill aren't.
You get Taj, you will have to give up both freeland and leonard

Gibson doesn't even bring us any closer to a title though, guys like afflalo, Chandler or ross would be more important to our success.

At least you stopped mentioning Lin and Evan Turner as players who would put the Blazers over the top.

What getting Taj would do is give us the flexibility to trade LMA. Here comes Cousins!!!

The original source is Sean Deveney of the Sporting News.

He mentioned Taj and Phoenix and Phoenix has Dragic on the block. And the source of this thread - Portland interested in Taj.

Lulz that !

;-)

My LULZ was in regards to the idea of trading Wes for Taj.

I think the reason people are LOLzing that is Phoenix already has two very good PFs. The deal doesn't really help them. They would probably more interested in a SF

For Wes in the offseason. I think the scenario would be if Olshey can't afford to re-sign him, Taj is on a much better contract.

Denny, you understand the difference between rumors and someone making things up right? Blazers are rumored. Wesley is that guy looking at each roster, picking out something he likes, and giving zero thought to why Portland does it. Which is to say, they wouldn't.
Not that the bulls would trade him for garbage people have mentioned here either.

Makes no sense here. I don't care about stunting anyone's growth. I want to win now. But with Aldridge, kaman and Lopez, he's good for maybe 15 minutes a game here.

I think the Blazers would take Taj if it didn't cost much to get him. I also think the fans who think end of the bench guys for him would somehow be what the Bulls would do is absurd.

I do think the Bulls are either likely to keep him or they'll trade him for a starting SG or SF. The starting SG or SF would be someone better than Dunleavy, not necessarily Carmelo Anthony.

In fact, the latest rumor is the Bulls inquired about Tobias Harris of Orlando. Kevin Martin has been mentioned for months in rumors.

That should give you an idea of where the Bulls' thinking is at.

Oh we'd definitely take him. It's just what we'd pay and what the bulls want are two very different things. Unless there was some 3 way deal where we moved Batum and got taj and a good sf as well. But I don't see it happening.
Our biggest need, imo, is a scoring 2/3 off the bench. Taj is obviously better than Freeland is, but not worth it at the likely cost to us, with other needs.

The only way I can even imagine us trading for Taj (including Wes in a deal) would be this:

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=pxyd3ft

It would be super risky though and we'd lose size but it's hypothetical.

Lillard / Blake
Bradley / Crabbe / McCollum / Barton
Batum / Dunleavy /Wright
Aldridge / Gibson / Claver
Lopez / Kaman / Leonard

The problem I have with a deal like that, or moving Batum as I mentioned is that we downgrade a 30+ minute per game spot to upgrade a 15 mpg spot, and still doesn't fill our one actual need.
