That's got to be a first in the City of Portland under any format.

Very interesting to see it and hear it.

Thought there'd be a thread here about it. There wasn't. So, I thought I'd start one.

Who is on?

Jody Runge is one.

I don't know the name of the host and the other one, but the other one has been on there several times.

All three know the team and their basketball very well.

I would honestly take them over Ian Furness and Dwight Jaynes.

The middle one is Elise Woodward from KJR in Seattle.

That was a good show. In many, many ways better than Jaynes and Furness.

Their last piece....season prediction:

Woodward, like most people outside of Portland, see Brandon is "too important" a piece for Portland. She thinks they'll only win 45 games...in other words...a lottery team.

Runge, like most people around Portland, understand that even a healthy Brandon limits this team in many, many ways....from Defense, to fast-breaks, to ball movement, etc. She understands that this is a better team without a healthy Brandon in many ways, and a much, much better team without a damaged Brandon in all ways. She understands that this team has some good defensive players and that with the addition of Joel Pryzbilla, that it will win 50 games again.

Portland came into tonight dead last in the NBA in Defensive Rebounding. They gave a great effort on the board thanks to Marcus Camby. When Sean Marks came into the game, we went from up 2 to down 3 in about 25 seconds. Marks was quickly taken out. Joel should come in and better our defensive rebounding, our shot-blocking, and our defense. (FWIW, Brandon doesn't even try to get defensive rebounds anymore and won't run out for a fast break, so he participates in neither facet of the game whenever a ball gets put up into the air. Brandon Roy is really completely useless. The team would be better with Patty Mills out there instead of Roy.)

WHEN Greg Oden comes back, that's also going to improve our Defensive Rebounding. It will also get our opposing big men in foul trouble, something that Roy and Bayless used to do for us, and that now only Wesley Matthews does for us. LaMarcus is trying, but he's not getting the calls.....yet. If LA keeps going inside, he'll eventually get the calls.

The biggest factor for us to win games is if Roy will just go away. Go away, Brandon...you're screwing with this team both physically and mentally. If Roy shuts it down, then this team will win 55 games. If Roy hangs around and tries to play for at least another 30 games, then this team will never have an identity and will only win 45 games because Roy's ego is too big, Nate McMillan is too much in love with Roy, and Cho has no balls to do anything about it.

As sad as it is, at this point, every day that Roy doesn't play is a good day.

Did Jody also say she knew Jeff Tedford when they were both at Oregon, and he would never direct players to fake injuries? She kind of lost a little credibility on that one.

Elise has a radio show up here in Seattle, and generally knows her hoops. She's a UW alum, though, and does some of the UW games so I can see her having a slight bias towards Roy and his importance.

BTW...are you from King's Point?

I didn't care for the format or the panelists. I don't mind having women participate, but three white chix sittin around talkin ball ain't my thing....particularly when all three of them are long past the days of being eye candy and the hostess is suffering from grow out of a bad hair dye job with nasty looking roots.

Very strong words, and refreshing to hear. Though Roy can still survive as a mediocre sub, you're right that his large presence will overdominate the development of his teammates.

I would honestly take them over Ian Furness and Dwight Jaynes.

Just having Ian on there makes it unwatchable for me. Jaynes would be a good #3, but needs two people better than him.

I would have watched the three women hosting if not for my switch to Direct TV.

I noticed the all female hosts last night and thought it was strange. I didnt have the volume up so I didnt hear their breakdown of the game etc.

Awesome that the face of the franchise and a top 10 player in the NBA over the last several years could be thrown under the bus so easily. Just another data point why top-tier free agents don't even give Portland the time of day.

.... when in the last 20 years have there been "top-tier free agents" when Portland has had money available? I can't think of a single season. Don't say a year ago because Hedo wasn't/isn't top-tier.

No. Born in Portland many, many moons ago. Used to sneak into about 25 Blazer games a year as a kid during the pre-Walton days.

Kingspoint is the location of the U. S. Merchant Marine Academy in New York, though, whom I highly respect.
