I suspect you won't have to wait long!

If the deal had just been Hart for Nance - that would have been a good deal. A healthy Nance would have been worth more to us than a wing - but a solid and healthy wing is worth more than a broken down Nance.
I was happy when we acquired Nance but I did have a check that he's another injury prone player.

When he was healthy, I liked what he brought to the team, but at some point you have to stop betting on players who are always hurt. I'm looking at you Mr Little!

Yeah we'll have to wait and see on where the Pels end up. The hype around CJ's arrival is a bit overblown. They beat the Suns without CP3 and Aaron Holiday.
Dude. Hype and who is injured doesn’t matter if they are winning games. If they make the playoffs, the fact that CP3 didn’t play won’t give us our pick.

Yeah if CJ is the difference between where that team was headed and the playoffs and we don't get a pick until Milwaukee's in 2025 then Joe fucked up so bad... which he already did trading a talent like CJ and for that matter talents like Norm, RoCo and Larry away for so little in return. Without the Pelicans pick it's going to be very hard for us to use our pick and get anything of real value with the TPE that so many have praised the value of that was opened up by giving up so much and getting back so little. I still don't think that the CJ led Pelicans will beat either the current iteration of the Clippers or Wolves in a play in game. So it won't be over-hype or injuries that end up helping us getting their pick. It's just that they won't be good enough. That's what I think but it will come down to one or two single elimination games and those are not things anyone can be sure of. Therefore, again, Joe really fucked up.

Historical tanks.

In 2011-12 season: Finished 28-38. Ended up with the 11th best odds for the #1 pick. Got the 11th pick (Meyers). Nets finished 22-44. Ended up with 6th best odds, got the #6 pick (Dame).

12-13: Finished 33-49. Ended up with the 10th best odds for #1. Got the #10 pick (CJ).

I doubt this current Blazers team wins more than 2 or 3 more games. There's just not enough talent. Anfernee has been rendered ineffective due to teams giving him the Dame treatment. And Ant has not dealt with it well . Just have to have the ping pong balls fall right.

Ewwww, thank God neither of you are the GM. I’ll be irate if Chet is the player the Blazers are targeting. A stiff wind will snap that kid in half (or a swift forearm from someone like Andre Drummond). No fucking thank you.
I remember thinking that about Durant and being glad that the Blazers picked Oden over him...

Please stop comparing this kid to Durant. It’s not even remotely responsible to talk about Chet and KD in the same sentence. While at Texas, KD was universally recognized as having the potential to be a once in a generation scorer. Chet couldn’t lick KD’s jockstrap in terms of overall talent. I see a Shawn Bradley type career in Chet’s future.

Equally annoying as a Durant comparison would have to be a Shawn Bradley comparison. Bradley’s only ability that led him to a long NBA career was standing in the paint and raising his arms in the air and disrupting things.

He could’ve only dreamed of having the skills that Holmgren has. Whether it’s shooting, handling the ball or even navigating the court.

Shawn Bradley for sure…

I hope they don't win any of the remaining games. Even one win could result in worse position for the draft.

They're both skinny. Am I allowed to make that comparison?

Ridiculously skinny kids who did okay:
Kevin Garnett
Marcus Camby
Brent Barry
Will Barton
Kevin Durant
And that kid Evan Mobley seems to be doing okay.

Amazing how they completely killed a 4-game win streak by sitting Nurk. Nurk for MVP!

Also, Camby and KG had 20+ lbs on Chet as well.
So out of the big guys you mentioned, none of them were nearly as frail as Chet.

Shawn Bradley for sure…

Who has compared him to Bradley here? The closest comp as I have been saying ad nauseum is Mobley, or a more skilled Gobert.

And even those two I think are far more mobile laterally (as well as stronger/heavier) than Chet.

You do know there's a difference between frail and skinny right? Chet hits the deck a ton in his games and bounces right back up. From the research I've done the only injury he has from playing basketball coming up on twenty years old was a broken right wrist when he was 12. So this kid who has played competitively at the school, club and invitation level that entire time hasn't had one other noteworthy injury and he's somehow frail?

He's fucking way too light for a post, that's for sure but that in no way makes him injury prone. The thing about Chet that I think is the biggest barrier that will keep him from being an all nba level player is his lack of foot speed and explosive athleticism. Other than that, this guy has a great feel for the game, great footwork on both ends, great timing defensively, a fantastic jumper, brilliant handles and passing for a big and a really high motor which might be one of his best qualities.

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for Jabari, Paolo or a trade that nets us an all star caliber player who is already in the league but if we do end up with Chet there is a helluva lot more to be excited about than worried about. I will excuse all of you with sports fan PTSD from Zach and Greg.

Frail doesn’t mean injury prone.

Look at definition #3, subsection B.

I do think you have a hard time using a dictionary if you got out of it what you're saying you did but hey, cool, your concern with Chet isn't that he will be injury prone... then we're in agreement. I would suggest using another word to describe him then since the use of the word frail in our vernacular does almost always mean fragile.

It makes no difference how much Chet ways now, it is more about how much good weight can he add in the next 4-5 years.

Ok so I assume you want to trade Lillard
Tell me how we are gonna build a freaking title contender around dame? Don’t give me the dame deserve a chance crap. This is the same dude who wanted to keep CJ over star fowards all these years. The same dude who loved stotts and wanted to keep him after the pelicans series. The same dude who didn’t demand more out of Neil. The same dude who will demand $50 mil at the age of 36. Never won a conference champ game. Sure we never put the proper team around dame, but he waited way too long to demand that. Sure he put up some of the best offensive scoring stretch the league ever seen, he been the most loyal player the blazers ever had. He deserve to play on the championship team, unfortunately due to the front office incompetent, that will never happen here

I am fine trading him. I just think as soon someone wants to let Chet gain 25 libs I want to make sure they also want to blow it up that’s all.

he's also the "same dude" that hasn't spent a half-second in his career as the Blazer GM

yeah, let's blame Dame for olshey not doing his fucking job

knicks with some ELITE tanking tonight
They're not tanking and I don't think they'll out tank us. We're the ones sitting guys with injuries that usually wouldn't keep them out as long if at all and now resting Hart. We're dedicated to this tank. The Knicks had that win and then Johnson banked that shit in. They also lost their best guy to an ejection.

Man if we really commit, we can get up to #5. We’re 4.5 games back with 20 left. That’s doable. Pacers aren’t hopeless.

Query: can one tank SO blatantly that the league fines one?

Hey, the fact that they're starting Williams over Blevins is an anti-tank move. Curious to see how this Williams-Hart backcourt performs
