I’ve seen enough through preseason to see we have matchup problems and not enough size. Our bench won’t be able to score.

Bury the hatchet and let’s roll the dice, babies

Be pretty hard to fake ten injuries.

Unless you're saying, we should blow it up?

He needs to add weight.

Better trade Dame because otherwise we're not tanking again

Exactly. Good luck trying to convince the coaches and players to tank again. Let's talk after the all-star break. A lot would have to happen for us to intentionally lose games.

I would love to here the JinxSpeed guys opinion on this. He was just blasting me because he said how amazing our bench is.

I’m against tanking talks this early. That being said, a loaded draft makes it easier for me to stomach a losing season. In a loaded west, we could still be 9-10th in the west and still have a top 8 pick.

Imagine making this thread in the preseason.

3 games that dont matter. at all.

On top of the ridiculous physical attributes & skills, his mom is a basketball coach. Given health (which isn't a given for anyone), his floor is above almost any other Big's ceiling.

The trouble with that plan is that's more likely to lead to injuries. People keep comparing him with Ralph Sampson, which is fair (and ominous) but anyone remember Rik Smits? Nowhere near as athletic, but his early years were just constant injuries because they kept trying to bulk him up and his frame couldn't take it. Finally Larry Brown said he could be skinny and the Pacers almost made it past Shaq's Magic to the finals.

They showed a picture of Wembanyama next to Gobert yesterday, with the point being to illustrate how much taller the kid is, but it also illustrated that he has comparatively much narrower shoulders:

It would be funny ("funny") if the Blazers did end up with the #1 pick. Of course you take Wembanyama, but I bet there would be huge Oden-based soul-searching.

The difference is, Rik when he came into the league was 22, and weighed 250 lbs. Victor is lighter than barely heavier than Shaedon Sharpe.

Yes, adding weight can be an issue, but at the same time, how many guys of his freakish height have not had injury issues or longevity issues?

Is he a unicorn? Sure. But most of his competition isn't exactly tall or built like a NBA players.

I was just looking at the number of draft picks in the next draft. I am sure to no one's surprise on this board, none of trades will help get this kid. Every pick was protected. So yeah it will come down to who tanks.

What would be more Blazer-esk is they get the #2 pick putting them in position to draft another PG in Scoot

loosely related to the discussion: Holmgren hasn't played yet in the pre-season because of a foot injury

I don't think he made the thread because of anything the Blazers did at all.

He's buying into the Wembayamayama hype.

This kid is gonna snap in half like Chet.
I was pretty hesitant about Chet's frame early on, but Wemby just looks more fluid and proportional even if he's 7'5. And he's got a really strong lower half of his body that he should be able to withstand hits in the league. I'm much more confident about his ability to stay healthy than I was Chet.

Chet has a foot injury right now
