If the Blazers lose to the Lakers, we could be at #7 in the Lottery standings. Because of the quick start, we would likely not be able to get any higher than 6th even if we tried.....which we are sadly accomplishing without trying.
It's funny: Chauncey got us a hot start with a drop-off afterwards. Stotts tended to start slow and get better as the season went on. What does that tell us?

That both versions are extremely mediocre.

Tanking is a moronic thing to do imo.
Spot on.

Hey.....I know....let's get players and coaches who have worked their asses off their entire BB career....and tell them, "Lose on purpose. It'll look bad for you personally, but it will help mostly the future players/coaches who replace you because you were a loser".

We were so bad last year, (Dame playing injured after already being injured and then playing on the Olympic team) management finally pulled the plug.

This year Dame is healthy, and we added the best forward since Aldridge... and we are in the same spot as the tanking version.

Just trading Hart won't fix the problem. There are fundamental issues with the core.

They need more talent. The best talent available to them is in the Draft.

Everything going to plan...

I kinda wish just those teams could play each other here on out. Have a play-in for the play-in.

Yup, thats been obvious to many here for quite a while. On the bright side, Soapy is finally gone and Trader Joe seems to have done well selecting for the future in his first draft. I don't agree with the two paths strategy he pursued this past offseason though, where they're trying to both compete now while building for the future. Committing to one path or the other would seem to make success more likely. As it is they're competing to maybe make the play-in and draft somewhere in the middle. Pursuing the dual path strategy this year does keep options of committing to one path or another open down the line though, plus trying to compete now with Dame kept hope alive and butts in seats for ownership in 2023.

Not sure what they're going to do this offseason but I am sure the customers aren't liking the product.

1 game away from 6th worst. May as well lean in if we can't even beat the Lakers at home.

ouch . the top teams dont even fit in the graphic.

So we're 13th in the west and 8th-worst in the league, but actually closer to the West 5 seed than to a league bottom 5 record.

So weird.

It's one of those years of extreme parity....and yet we are not even in the parity discussion. A few more wins against the scrubs might move them up, but it doesn't make them close to a contending team. Just more purgatory.

I'm all in for the hardcore tank. Win now is not an option anymore. Not with this roster

Sit dame, play Sharpe 35 minutes a night, get a top 10 pick by any means necessary.

Will the team try to win the next few games or start resting guys right away?

If anyone wants to watch a generational talent that the Blazers will never get, he's going live on the NBA app here in a few...

IF we get #1 pick this summer, is Wemby ready to help Dame contend? What do Blazers do in such scenario?

draft VW and then trade him for 45 second round picks

Seriously, given health whoever gets him will be winning a lot

If somehow we got Wembanyama, his leg would crack in two or his knees would crumble. That's what happens here.

I don't believe the Blazers have any intention of tanking 2 seasons in a row, at least not this early in the season. If they are 4 or 5 games out of 10 seed with 10-12 to go there might be some motivation to shut some players down. But not much. I think they'll go for it until they are mathematically eliminated
