Still have no idea who he is, aside from some chubby goon that apparently has a sports talk show yet spends it talking about a sports message board. :dunno:

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the show won't last very long.

But props to him. His job is to get people talking. Create controversy. So, he's done that. Now, he just needs to figure out how to translate that into ratings for the show. I suppose a couple people from S2 might decide to waste time to listen to his show now, but for all the dumb posts I see here, I don't consider anyone here that desperate.

I just find talk radio boring. How often do you hear a local guy talk about something original or actually break news? I would rather talk to the "zeros" on this forum about Blazers basketball, quite frankly. I was an intern at 910 The FAN many many moons ago, and if you could see how these guys operate, you would know that they're really no different than any of the guys on this forum. Hell, I think you guys probably dress better.

Isn't this what we have Canzano for? Do we really need a low rent clone.....?

Weak... Come on Zeros you're better than this. Who is he? AM radio blasts?

Oh wait I've got one!!! You all live in your moms basement.. Unoriginal and unfunny. Thankfully you didn't disappoint exactly what I expected

Step yo game up

Taylor, I hope you turn your life around. I really do. My prayers are with you.

That's cool Sly that you're doing this for fun, but on a serious tip, why give this hack the time of day. Nobody listens to him, right? Wouldn't know him if I tripped over him. If it's just for fun, cool. But this is the exact reason I don't follow our local doucehbag media for the most part.

Its hard to come up with original content based on someone no one's listened to before.

We should provide an open invitation to Mr danforth to the game we "Zeroes"attend in the suite. So he feels bad about himself when he realizes we aren't the "zeroes"

Danforth is

Canzano's already low-rent.

Fair enough. I fear referring to Danforth as even the homeless version of Canzano is still giving dude too much credit.

If Danforth wanted to comprehend the size of his radio audience, he'd come to the meet-and-greet and divide the number of people that show up by three, and voila!

Unoriginal and unfunny?

Unoriginal? Dude is correct here - it is unoriginal that we have no idea who he is. To be fair, he's in a long line of unknown sports radio hosts from Portland that last all of 4-6 months before they disappear (can you disappear when nobody knows you're there?), left to die in oblivion and never to return.

Unfunny? Fair enough, dude is spot on here again. It is unfunny that a message board of Blazers fans have no idea who this radio host is. I mean, I'd be pretty worried if I were a sports radio host in a one-sport city, and nobody had any inkling of who I was. I'd consider that unfunny for sure.

Danforth FTW. Consider ourselves owned. He spoke the truth, and it's completely matter-of-fact.

Mychal and Kermit were rad back in the day. I remember listening to those guys all summer long. Especially the summer of 1996, when we made a ton of moves to freshen up the roster and go young.

Things have changed so much since then. Talk Radio is like blogs before the internet. But now we're practically post-internet, and talk radio is tedious. I can read more opinions, more informed opinions, and more varied opinions, in a tenth of the three hours it takes for Talk Radio to play an hour of ads and half an hour of bumper music.

you'd think with 9 new players, "face of the franchise" gone, a new assistant coach, and position battles all over--you'd have stuff to talk about. If you have "credentials", why aren't you getting sound bites from Cliff Alexander or Montero on what they've been told their chances are of sticking? Why is it Casey and Quick who're getting the interviews with Kaman and Dame et al.?

"Yo," lol...

Exactly.

But let's be honest.... I don't think either Kermit or Mychal were doing it for money, either. They were having fun, talking about the Blazers, their time in the NBA - they talked sports for the love of sports and they were real, genuine, and entertaining. They had their own stories to tell and they were engaging. It was like sitting in on a conversation between two friends and listening to their memories, their INFORMED perspectives, etc.

Everyone does blogs, written or in video format these days. Most of these guys are a dime-a-dozen. They're mostly a dying breed, just like print.

Because that's original content and these brohams don't know how to do original content.

In case Taylor continues reading, perhaps you could elaborate on "original" and "content". Let's try to be constructive here.

Both of these statements partially inform this sentiment:

Hierarchy of humanity:

Everyone Else
Sports Radio Talk Show Hosts
People Who Listen to Sports Radio Talk Shows

Both of these statements partially inform this sentiment:

God this is so true.... any time I have listened to local radio, the people who call in astound me. Their level of knowledge and understanding of the sport is abysmal and depressing. Really, it's like that anytime I talk to some random person about the Blazers. Most of the time it feels like I'm trying to carry on a conversation with a five year old.

People who still think sports radio is their soap box of choice are just below people who think OregonLive is the place to talk about the MAX and TriMet.

Original content would be like that article from Quick about Cliff Alexander and Moe Harkless. It's information that we did not already know. He shared quotes from the players about scrimmages that we cannot see. That's worthwhile journalism.

Having a radio show and throwing out some random question like, "Who's going to be your starting five?" is not original. It's something that we talked about months ago. Sure, it gets people talking, but it doesn't contribute anything new to the conversation.

I'm pretty sure he'll be too bashful to say thank you, so I'll help a brother out and do it for him: "Thank you, Nate!"

I guess I'm one of the few who actually knew who he was prior to all of this. But, I've only listened on rare occasions. I don't have a morning commute, so my time in the car with radio is limited, but the times I would tune into them over, say, Dan Patrick, it'd be because I wanted to hear primarily about my local team. But they're just not that good. Which is always frustrating. I'd find myself correcting information to myself while listening, or just rolling my eyes. It just sounds like what Nat ehad mentioned about talking Blazers with casual fans, just kind of blah opinions that seem gathered from the national media.

Radio is usually lazy journalism, if you can even call it journalism. Unless it's someone who works for the team, or they are a previous player, or they are a writer as well as a radio personality, they generally do not have sources and they do not have original takes. Hell, most of the radio shows don't even talk sports all the time. They end up talking about women or entertainment news, etc. They have to fill 3-4 hours of air with something, so they spend a lot of their time talking about crap that's not even related to sports.
