To be honest, I blame Dan Patrick for much of this because he effortlessly does a "wider subject area" show that has sports but much more. It succeeds because he's got a great personality and is surrounded by other very funny people.

Most radio talk show hosts just end up trying too hard. If your talent ceiling is Colin Cowherd, you're in trouble.

But let's be honest.... I don't think either Kermit or Mychal were doing it for money, either. They were having fun, talking about the Blazers, their time in the NBA - they talked sports for the love of sports and they were real, genuine, and entertaining. They had their own stories to tell and they were engaging. It was like sitting in on a conversation between two friends and listening to their memories, their INFORMED perspectives, etc.

Everyone does blogs, written or in video format these days. Most of these guys are a dime-a-dozen. They're mostly a dying breed, just like print.

If you watch Isaac and Big Douche when they do their show, they're getting all their stuff off the internet, just like we're doing right now. They aren't breaking news, and most of their show is talking about anything but sports, much like the amount of time we all spend posting about politics, Trump and other bullshit. The only difference is that they get paid to do it and we don't. As a daily thing, they are totally redundant. Not to mention annoying as all hell.

And I'd much rather listen to ex-players as radio hosts, because if nothing else, their stories and perspectives (even those unrelated to sports) are virtually guaranteed to be more interesting and relevant than some anonymous clowns talking about 1000 ways to recycle belly button lint just to fill up off season air space......though thinking about it, all of us anonymous clowns on this site do a pretty damn good job making conversations like those not only commonplace, but even interesting (and funnier than hell) on occasion......that makes the radio guys even more redundant.

I rarely listen to Isaac and Suke...... agree they are redundant.... but they are at least mildly entertaining at times. And I usually don't have a ton of time to waste on the internet (today is an aberration, for the most part), so I can go to them to get a quick update on the sports world (or other news) during my commute home. When talking football, Suke often does add some solid insight from a former player. There's more credibility there than the average fan or radio host.

Yeah, but that style has been around for a long time. That's what they were doing on The FAN back in the early 2000's.

I heard the front office has been able to switch out to a one ply toilet paper because they no longer have to worry about his delicate tush. Shout out to Caitlin Jenner! Bruce Bowen! And my boys over at the Jack in the Box on Powell Blvd. I'm out - mic drop.
 
Seriously, though, I found Taylor and Danforth to be pretty entertaining, although I haven't listened in quite a while since my carpool driver is a Dan Patrick guy...

This thread is so outrageous. You know you're desperate for some followers when, one, Sly has to start a thread to get people to listen to your show. Two, he had to attach links to your show (what, we can't find it on our own? Or he knows we care so little he tried to make it easy as possible). Three, he had to bribe us with Blazers gear. Four, Sly had to start a thread to get people to listen to your show.

Sly is doing all the dirty work to get this dude some attention. The one thing Sly knows better than anyone is that this place loves to pounce like a pack of wolves circling a wounded chicken in a pasture.

Sly, I hope you're at least getting paid.

Sly also knows that we'll beat the shit out of each other, but as soon as an external threat emerges, we band together to fight them off.
 
I don't know if they even get that good of ratings but Cofield and Company are fabulous local radio here in Vegas.
 
Man I used to love listening to Mychal and Kermit back in the day. This thread should be closed, its ridiculous! How can we crack on a guy I've never heard of until this? This dude doesn't even register. Sports radio guys are no different than if we threw a mic down in front of us while posting if you ask me.

Well this is awkward... This whole thing started months ago when a member stole my nickname for Vonleh and passed it off as his own and then accused me of stealing it. I had a parody rap of Eminems Stan where I mentioned this forum. Nothing but respect for you as Blazers fans. We are doing just fine in ratings and with the Blazers (just met with them for an hour about the season) l. We are going to have players and coaches on weekly so that's a reason to listen. If not wont hurt my feelings our show is doing great after 6 months. I'm still going to call you Zeros cause it bothers you and it's funny
